Charlie Potter

quote:

Davis’ return would leave only one spot on the Tide’s roster for 2017-18 -- even if he has to sit out the upcoming season for becoming able to transfer elsewhere.

“We talked about it, and I think he’s probably just going to sit out this year and redshirt, but ... I ain’t supposed to be telling y’all this,” Ingram said.

I guess if they granted him a release, it will be almost like he's transferring back in here

Also I don't think Bob Simon was at last night's banquet. Anyone know why?

I guess that makes sense about Armond.

And I have no clue about Simon

WTF? If so, it was an incredibly dumb move to request a transfer. I'd love to have him back but, now, not in 2018/19. I mean, I'm sure I'd be glad to have him then too, but skipping next season sucks.

If true it was a very short sighted decision on his part. This has been the offseason we didn't need so far

Dayton and Auburn are beginning a home and home series next year in Ohio. We get to see Grant vs Pearl again. Grant went 2-0 vs Pearl while at Bama.

Or was it? Career wise it makes more sense considering he's not looking at much time next year. Probably not what he wanted, but it might work out better for him.

Key isn't looking at much time next year? Maybe I'm misunderstanding u, but what do u mean? He's gonna start. No one coming in will take his spot

We're talking about Davis possibly having to sit out next year.

So just expecting the worst, what would be your view on next season if Key did decide to go to the NBA?

NIT again unless we got a good 4 to come in immediately eligible.

With Key, I think we have a great chance to be a top 25 team. Without him, I still think we're a tournament team, but a lot of how good we'll be would be based on how good Petty is as a freshman, and if Norris can start consistently start hitting shots.

I would think that no one wants Davis who will sit out a year to play a year. He can sit out next year at Bama, then graduate and transfer without having to sit out. Then he can play immediately for his new team. You want a one year transfer to help, not sit out.

Not saying it couldn't happen, but I don't see it as likely. Adding Sexton, Petty, the rest of the freshman class, and Giddens should significantly outweigh losing Key, Taylor, Bola, and Collins.

I get the concern at the 4, but even if Reese isn't ready for the minutes, Norris is capable. We also had success with letting Bola take the bulk of the minutes there (a 4 who couldn't score well inside the paint, much less outside of it) so there's no reason to think Giddens or Hall can't spend some of their time there as well.

Doesn't make sense for the university, my point was that it might benefit him.
