This should be expected with Avery going forward. His recruiting pitch obviously includes a lot of NBA development talk, so that's what most his recruits will come here to do.

I'd be shocked if he returns. I think he is just chasing money, no matter where he has to go. Maybe his family needs cash

Why do you say that? He said in his post that he's "testing the waters" and "won't hire an agent" and he didn't say anything like "It's been great to be a part of this university and I'll miss it" or anything like that. He gives no hints that he's actually leaving

Alabama's basketball team banquet has just started. The first award has just been announced. Avery Johnson Jr wins the Most Improved Player award.

I just believe he is gone. There has to be a reason he's decided to declare. It would make more sense to wait until next year to "test the waters". I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up with an agent by next week. He gone.

FWIW, Coach Avery sounded pretty hopeful (and confident) that Braxton Key will be back next season.

would make more sense to wait until next year to "test the waters

I don't know for sure, but he transferred between private schools across the country so I wouldn't think he's poor.
