If we are at the NIT when Sexton leaves something is terribly wrong. We have good players around him. Making tourney shouldn't be an issue after next year unless guys leave early.

U think Dazon will be the PG over Sexton?

JMHO but I've been watching Bama basketball since the CM Newton days. This is what I think must happen: Bama fulfills their promise next season by not just making the tourney. We can't be satisfied with just that. One and done does us little good. But if we win one game or maybe two, I think you will see a lot of recruiting doors open for us. We are in a down period but our historical average has been round of 32 or Sweet Sixteen. If we show we are moving back in that direction, kids will start considering Bama again
Second: we don't need any of the schools nearest to us making a significant move up the SEC ladder. If Auburn, UGA, State and Ole Miss and maybe UT stay right about where they are or we jump way past them, that's perfect because that is our recruiting sweet spot. When we dominate the state and cherry pick Mississippi and Georgia, we've made a good living. Always have. Anything CAJ can pull from LA or TX is gravy.

Well that's not going to happen. The quality of HCs in the SEC has improved dramatically, and they've been recruiting well. Auburn, Mississippi State, and Tennessee could all make significant jumps next year.

I know. That's the hardest part. But SEC basketball was at its best when Bama, LSU, Arkie, Florida, and Miss State were battling it out for 2nd thru 6th in the league. Every game was crucial and could mean the difference between a 5 seed and a winnable game or two and an 8 seed and a shitty draw.

I see Ingram and Sexton as guards, Petty and Key as wings and Hall/Giddens as post. I wouldn't look at Ingram or Sexton as the PG since they're going to share ball handling duties.

We need another post player that is ready to play day 1. There might not be a starting position for him, but Avery plays a lot of guys (especially early in season) and feeds the ball to his big men. Even if he's not starting, he'll get opportunities.
If I were to guess our grad transfers will come from smaller schools and they'll be attracted to playing in a power 5 conference. Minutes will still play a part but it won't be the only factor.

Hmm I will try to pick out some post GTs from mid major or minor schools then.

I just have a hard time believing that Riley isn't going to start. Petty makes sense as a 6th man (that will probably/almost certainly score more points per game than riley)
He's clearly our best defender, he's a senior, he's a glue guy (high motor, coaches son, gym rat, etc), he can kind of shoot from 3 (kind of), and he even hit some shots around the basket this year. Avery seems to love him.
my starting lineup is fairly nailed on at this point, although what do I know
Sexton
Ingram
Riley
Key
Hall
Sexton and Ingram as kind of dual point/combo guards.

Hmm always forget about Riley...He may start at the beginning of they year but I doubt he is starting by end.

Maybe he will. Lot can happen between now and 1st game. Were it not for Sexton, Petty would be our biggest signee in 10+ years. You start him.
I like Riley and believe he adds a lot of value but in my opinion he's one of our worst defenders. Don't get me wrong he hustles and he gives it all he has but his lateral foot speed is so limited. Perimeter close outs are tough on anybody but Riley makes them look impossible.

He was easily our best on-ball defender last year, which is why he always guarded the opposing team's best wing. His lateral foot speed is more than adequate for a collegiate level wing (faster than Key's is). Closeouts probably are his weakness, but that's a weakness for the team as a whole.
