Cecil Hurt posted this on TideSports talking about why landing the Lawson bros would be great

quote:

One 2018 guard Alabama is recruiting heavily is T.J. Moss of Memphis East — where the Lawsons played.

quote:

In 2019, a younger brother, Chandler Lawson, is a Top 20 national prospect per ESPN. Also, the Lawsons are close with D.J. Humphries, the No. 6 national prospect, from Olive Branch, Miss. (Just across the state line from Memphis). IF….IF…IF a team signed those two, plus No. 5 national prospect Trendon Watford of Mountain Brook, that would be a contender for the national No. 1 recruiting class of 2019 even if you didn’t sign anyone else.

Do you now if Avery wants just grad transfers, or is he willing to get guys who aren't eligible immediately?

Good question. I'll ask.

I'd give Houston the boot and let Lawson be the director of Ops if that was good enough to land them. I would not force out one of our current assistants to get them, though.

Hire him as a behind the scenes type role and promise to promote him if/when a coach leaves. Pelphrey won't be here forever.

Am all with getting the Lawson bros but we need to fill the holes we have this year. Our fan base not going to fall for the one more year thing to many times.

He has to be hired as a coach or director of operations to be legal under NCAA standards.

So I'm guessing the ultimate goal is for their dad to be a coach one day?

Lawson's maybe the springboard we need to vault into big time recruiting.Won't be any looking back after that.Hope Avery can pull it off.

I really like Houston. He's a Mountain Brook guy right? Wonder if that helps us with Watford.

I don't think he gives us help into any recruit. I think his value is from being smart and statistical type analysis. If I was head coach, I'd want my ops guy to be someone that really helps once you get a recruit on campus. I just don't see Houston ever providing that value.

A guy who's supposed to be an insider on TI said 3 things:

1. We probably won't sign the Lawson bros bc we won't give dad a job.

2. Were in great shape with Watford but it'll be a fight to the end for him

This third one really made me curious. I have no clue what he means. It says this:

"Hope Pearl enjoyed 2016-17

Well"
