If Avery wants them, he can take Avery Jr off scholarship and then he'll have room for both Lawson bros, and a grad transfer

I don't think it's happening which is a shame because they are really good players. Can't teams not allow players to transfer to future opponents anyways or is that just a football thing?

I thought that was possible. I actually just had a discussion on twitter about this exact thing. I guess if they receive a FULL release, they can go anywhere

Bama can just give Avery a "raise" and offset the financial costs of doing it

Memphis can restrict transfers , only time teams typically do that is to avoid the players on their own schedule

So Memphis v Alabama next year won't matter but if y'all play in 2 years they ain't gonna let that fly

Doesn't look like we'll play them in 2 years so that's good

Now, I kind of wish we'd land the Lawson Bros and a grad transfer. Their younger brother is a 2019 5-star. Having said that I assume someone will hire their Dad as an assistant to land them.

On another note, with the Lawson Bros transferring from Memphis, our OOC schedule sure could use a boost.

Yeah unless they get some grad transfers they might be one of the worst teams in the AAC

So we play Memphis without the Lawson bros, Texas who's coming off like 23 losses, Oregon State who's coming off 27 losses, a tourney with BYU and UMass, and then possibly Arizona

We better do good in SEC play then or hope we beat Arizona (if the game gets scheduled) bc none of those other wins are gonna help. Hopefully Texas is a lot better

I just don't buy FR big men being good team defenders.

Being a good defensive big in college basketball is not some steep learning curve. It isn't like they are defending many guys that will take you out of the paint or have some array of post moves. You basically have to know how to hedge on a PnR or rotate over to effect a driver.

There is a reason Calipari is able to consistently pump out great defensive teams with a bunch of freshman. Defense in college basketball isn't that difficult. Play hard, get in a stance, and don't foul. This isn't the NBA where if you give a guy a little bit of space he will torch you.

I completely admit that I am not as bullish as most when it comes to relying on FR talent. On top of that, I think Taylor/Bola's contributions inside were criminally underrated.

Of course you do.

Auburn could get out rebounded by a girl scout troop last year and struggled with post defenders and rim protection

Only natural that I'd be peanut butter jealous of the trio of Hall/Taylor/Bola that were a huge part of your ability to hold opp to a super low opp FG%

Bola? Rim protection?

Tell us more, and we'll pretend to be peanut butter jealous of the boogs.

If you want some entertainment, go search "@jasonkessler15 Sexton" on twitter. It will show all of Jason's tweets about Sexton. He's a Florida fan who constantly wondered if they were gonna get Collin and now he's mad and had like 90% of the Alabama fans blocked he even had one tweet where he said Alabama wouldn't land Sexton, Petty, Reese, or Herb lol

Edit: I bet this Jason guy is on the Rant he seems like that type

Bola wasn't a great defensive player. He was okay in that department, but sucked pretty much everywhere else except for him being one of the best offensive rebounders in the entire country. I think we'll miss him, but I also think we will make up for it in other areas. Taylor I'm not that worried about losing because Giddens is basically a stronger and more athletic version of him. People keep pointing to Taylor as a reason we rebounded so well, when he was a below par rebounder. We rebounded so well because of Bola and the fact that our guards and wings rebound so well.

I think the era of Avery playing two traditional bigs at the same time is pretty much over. Really think this year it will basically be spread PnR with Hall in there to catch lobs and offensive rebound. Guys like Sexton and Ingram need space to drive in to.

Sexton/Ingram and Sexton/Petty PnR's

Predict the starting 5 game 1.

My thoughts: Sexton, Ingram, Key, Norris, Hall.
