But for some reason I thought Armond Davis was supposed to be a three point sharpshooter before the season started. Even at the Tip Off event it seemed like he was being billed as that. Like he had "in the gym" type range. Was I the only one who felt that way? He wasn't even a decent shooter last year, he was actually pretty terrible at it. I think he was less than 25%. If he was a 40% guy, we theoretically win 2-5 more games and make the NCAAT. Just wondering if others agreed.
He was. But he never seemed to figure out the offense and he doesn't seem to have a good feel for how to get shots in the offense.
I'm sure when he stands in the corner and catches passes he's a great 3 point shooter, probably is off the dribble too. Against JuCo guys in the Rockies.
Pretty big jump in defensive intensity and overall structure of the offense going from that to the SEC. He clearly didn't adapt well, and it effected his shot selection which effected his numbers.
He'll either have the light flick on and be a solid shooter next year or he won't play. That's kind of the risk you take with JuCo guys.

You're right, he was supposed to be a better shooter. Looks like he shot 39% from 3 his last year at Southern Idaho.
He struggled beyond the arc. I expect him to improve next year if he can earn playing time. I like his effort on the defensive side and he has good length.

Yes? They fill our biggest offensive needs : attacker and shooter. Will make a world of difference for Key and Ingram.
I agree that shooting is our biggest need, which is why I think we need to add more shooting through a grad transfer rather than a banger. Bangers are nice, but if the team can't get the opposing defense out of a zone then the back-to-the-basket guys are pointless to have.

Dazon shot over 40% from long range last season
He did. He shot 43% from 3. But when you only take 1 shot from deep a game, it doesn't really affect what the defense is going to do.

I have a question that isn't aimed at anyone directly, because I don't even really know when or how it started.
Maybe I made it up in my own head, I don't know.

Davis was an excellent volume shooter at the JUCO level. His problem is his shot selection is complete shite. Someone said this before, but it describes him perfectly: everytime he touches the ball, it's like you can see he's thinking "pull, baby, pull!"

He can hit them when he takes them, he turned down a lot of good looks too. Hopefuly with Petty and Sextons driving ability he will have a lot of open looks this year.

We have other players coming back. Kentucky relied on two Seniors this year heavily I believe. Their names escape me but if our guys develop we have the same thing. Sexton should get guys Riley more open shots.

He is just a bigger Don't a Hall IMO. I still we need another bola type to be under the basket.

I see where this is posted on the Rant also. The LSU and Arky fans are so mad that we're ranked ahead of them EVEN THOUGH the article CLEARLY tells how the teams are ranked

Those stats seem legit IMO.

Dear Baby Jesus, please let Sexton make it out of this game without an injury.

Seriously, a victory is Sexton not getting hurt.
I read Kentucky Sports Radios live reports from practice, which are almost entirely UK recruit centric, and even they were in awe of Sexton.
He's got a legitimate chance to be an All-American, Conference POY type next season. And I'm generally a giant poo pooer on freshman expectations. Too many people who have no skin in the game are blown away by his performances against the best players in the world. He's going to eat the SEC alive.

I hope Avery gives him freedom to make some mistakes and dumb plays. I don't want him to be scared out there. Just sit back and turn him loose
