Have we even had a big name at home since Georgetown in 2011?

I remember playing UCLA one year but they weren't any good that year record wise.

We've had Xavier, Wichita State, and UCLA, but I think that's it. Dayton this year at home, and then I believe we play Texas next year at home.
I'd honestly like to keep playing Wichita State. Since the NIT Championship, we've played them 5 straight years I believe. Minus the NIT Championship, all the games have come down to the wire and provided an NCAA-like atmosphere.

In an interview, Avery said a couple of big time teams would be in Coleman. If Dayton's one of them, that leaves one more we don't know. I remember Arthur Edwards said on Periscope that he thinks we play Clemson in B-Ham this year. So that'll be 3 big non-conference games at home pretty much.

So we really haven't hosted many elite basketball teams. Weve gotta start doing that.

Tough to do. Most elite teams play in 1-2 big classics (4 teams in a place, 1-2 games) or tournaments (Puerto Rico, Orlando, Maui, NIT). They then play 1-2 big road/home games (UNC-UK, Kansas-UK, etc) and then 5-6 mid majors at home.
The increase in the "classics", neutral site games basically, has taken away from a lot of the home and home games, especially for non-powers like us.
Look around the league, just not a ton of home and homes with teams like UNC, Duke, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. We've gotten Georgetown, Memphis, UCLA and this or next year Texas at home. And Oregon in Birmingham. That's pretty good.
I'd like to play 5-6 "power 5" type opponents, 2-3 at home, each year, but a lot of times it won't work out.

So John Petty is going to play AAU ball out of state. I know it happens regularly but doesn't that just seem wrong or is it just me?
Posted on 5/10/16 at 7:18 pm to Th3One31
Just you lol. Who is he playing for?
Posted on 5/10/16 at 7:28 pm to Tide or Die87
He is playing for team Penny
Posted on 5/10/16 at 10:28 pm to Tide or Die87
Yeah, Team Penny. Just feels like that shouldn't be right, lol. Wish I had some brilliant reasoning to support my feelings but I just don't. Ha!

You said it yourself its pretty regular but I agree wit him it seems like he is looking for something idk. My friend told me that he will end up in trouble with the NCAA...

I just don't see us getting Petty. He's probably UK bound and if he's going to play for an AAU team out of state, he'll probably start being comfortable away from his home state of Alabama and may move off and go to another big basketball school. There's plenty of talent in the 2017 class tho so it's not a huge deal if we don't land him, it'll just be very disappointing.

I think we get him and I think we do whatever it takes. CAJ wants a big splash recruit and who better. Also I think Kentucky cooled on him. Just saying if your "childhood favorite" offers you and its Kentucky he probably would've committed with them offering other shooting guards and with those guys playing better than him on the AAU circuit he cant wait aroundnif he wants to go there. Its not football where you have 30 players in one class lol. Not to mention I don't think they had a lot of guys leave this year I could be wrong though. I honestly think we get him. Could be wrong though.

I could see it happening that way and I hope it does. I guess I'm just a little nervous about him bc of our past staff lol. I trust that CAJ will do everything he can to get it done.

No. The only "note" was that Luka Garza is setting up an official visit to Bama.
