It was a joke and it really wasn't that much effort, obviously.

Sorry Surge, didn't mean to derail the thread.

LINK ]Five-star OT Tommy Brockermeyer breaks down return visit to UA (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

Five-star OT LINK ]Tommy Brockermeyer returned to UA on Saturday for his second visit thus far in his recruitment. The Fort Worth (TX) All Saint Episcopal product had the Tide among his top choices entering the day.

“I had a great time,” Brockermeyer told BamaOnLine. “I learned a lot of stuff that I didn’t know about. Like last time I got to see all the facilities and meet some of the coaches. This time I got to learn a lot more stuff about the people, and just got to meet a lot of the players and talk to the players about a lot of stuff. It was awesome.”

Brockermeyer spent time with UA early enrollees Seth McLaughlin and Jackson Bratton. He also got to see his brother, James, a four-star center in the 2021 class, earn an offer from UA.

“I thought that was awesome because I think me and James, we want to play together in college,” Tommy said. “Now Alabama has offered us both, so if we want to go there we could play together.”

The conversation with Saban was a good catchup for the brothers. “We talked about how Alabama is just a great place to be,” Tommy said. “It really sets you up on the field and off the field. There’s so many things about it that makes it special and great. Alabama is not for everybody.”

The Brockermeyer brothers will take spring official visits, of which Alabama is in line to definitely get one. “By then I’ll probably narrow it down and just focus on maybe two schools and then make my decision probably by the summer,” Tommy said.

Where does UA rank among programs like Texas — where the Brockermeyers’ father starred, LSU, Clemson, Auburn, and Georgia? “Definitely Alabama’s up up there,” Tommy said. “I’m considering them a lot.”

Why is UA a top choice? “I just think of greatness and tradition of being the best at what you do,” Tommy said. “It’s funny because we talked to all the coaches … for most teams that go 11-2, that’s a good season, they’re celebrating. If Alabama goes 11-2, something’s wrong. That’s not the tradition there, that’s not the standard. They only want the best.”

LINK ]Bama offer 'felt like a dream' to Texas OL (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

OL targets (L-R) Tommy Brockermeyer, Jaeden Roberts, James Brockermeyer.

Alabama hosted four-star center  LINK ]James Brockermeyer and his brother five-star OT  LINK ]Tommy Brockermeyer for the second time in their recruitments for Junior Day on Saturday. The trip culminated in an offer for James.

“I was just … it kind of felt like a dream,” James told BamaOnLine. “It’s the greatest college football coach of all the time saying you have the opportunity to play for him, it’s pretty cool.”

The visit overall impressed. “It was awesome,” James said. “I got to see everything again, spend some good, quality time with Coach Saban and Coach Flood. It was really good.”

Nick Saban liked what he saw from James since the last time he was on campus for camp last June. “Just kind of talking about how much bigger I’ve gotten since summer,” he said of the conversation with the UA head coach, adding he checked in at 6-foot-3, 273 pounds. “He really liked my film. He said I have an offer there. So it was really good.”

James also spent time with offensive line coach Kyle Flood. “Just kind of talked about the O-line tradition there, how he wants to coach us and everything,” he said of Flood’s message. “I’m really excited to continue our relationship with them.”

The Brockermeyer brothers will return to Tuscaloosa for spring official visits. Other schools in the mix include Texas, where their dad starred for the Longhorns, LSU, Auburn, and others.

“I haven’t really narrowed it down yet,” James said of where things stand. “But obviously Alabama is going to be at the top or very near the top. They’re 100 percent up there. I’ll probably narrow things down soon.”

What has the Tide in the mix among top contenders? “The opportunity to truly compete for a national championship every year. Some schools talk about it, but Alabama is definitely one of those schools that does it every year.”

It doesn't have anything to do with recruiting. Don't get sore at me, I didn't post it.

You didn't derail it.

That long, well thought out and exceedingly witty pete golding slam actually was recruiting related.

I mean it was set in that restaurant where they were on a recruiting visit. So it was really clever the way you tied in an on topic recruiting post with a pete golding hit post.

LINK ]Bama takes momentum for Georgia DB (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

Alabama hosted four-star cornerback LINK ]Jordan Hancock out of Suwannee (Ga.) North Gwinnett for the third time in his recruitment on Saturday. He’ll return to campus on Sunday to spend more time with the coaches.

“It’s been amazing, actually,” Hancock told BamaOnLine. “We’re going to talk to Coach Saban a little bit more and Coach Kelly and Coach Scott tomorrow. It was kind of an elite Junior Day, so it was kind of their top guys.”

Hancock camped last summer and visited for the LSU game back in November. “Coach Saban said that I can play either corner, safety or nickel,” Hancock said. “That’s what he really likes about me.

“We mainly talked about life and everything. Then we went on to talk about some football and how the defense works. I started telling him some of my knowledge of the game. He said I could become a coach with my IQ for the game. So that’s really good.”

It’s the Tide head coach that has UA so high among contention for Hancock. “What I really like about it is Coach Saban,” Hancock said of Alabama. “He’s a legend coach and he also coaches DBs. It’s kind of like ... I don’t know how to explain it. He’s a DB coach, so why wouldn’t I go here type of thing. I have a great opportunity right in front of me. All the NFL scouts know him. That’s kind of why I’m high on Alabama.”

The Tide has impressed so much this weekend that it may currently hold the edge. “I haven’t named a leader, but all my schools (Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State) are all No. 1 basically,” Hancock said. “But after this Alabama visit, it's kind of like Alabama has taken the lead a little bit.”

As for a decision timeline … “No later than mid-August. It’s coming soon. I plan on releasing a top five before then.”

Yeah it was terrific. I was wrong when I said in a previous post it didn't have anything to do with recruiting.

He hit all the right notes slamming pete golding while very deftly staying on topic with recruiting.

See because that story he told in that long post was set in the very same restaurant where saban and golding were on a recruiting visit.

It was awesome.

We need him.

It would be a great haul to secure GaQuincy with the other kid we already have committed.

This is Bama, we don’t even know what a kicker is

He’s not even a damn kicker. He’s a punter.
