WR JAVON BAKER
Baker has been committed to the Tide since last fall, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of other programs from courting him in recent months. In the last month alone, Baker has visited LSU and Georgia Tech, and Tennessee is also heavily involved as well. Despite the trips, Baker has said he’s not wavering from Alabama. But could a push from in-state Georgia change things? Baker is likely to take officials in the fall and is one to watch.

QB BRYCE YOUNG
Young has been committed to USC since last summer, when he picked the hometown Trojans over Alabama. However, he’s remained the Tide’s top target in the class and it’s possible that Alabama might not even take a quarterback in the class if he doesn’t flip. After some ups and downs with the Trojans, Young said he’s sticking with USC, but Nick Saban and Alabama can never be counted out, especially at an important position of need like quarterback.

Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge: Commits predict next pledge
They didn't ask one of our commits who they believed would commit to us next, but they did ask some kids who mentioned some of our targets. I'll post them so we can all laugh at these dumbass kids.

ATLANTA -- The Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas kicked off with a media day on Monday. Some of the top prospects in the country arrived in Atlanta -- both committed and uncommitted alike. We take a look at some of the top prospects who are still a ways away from making a decision and where they may be heading.

Kristian Story was CBd to Bama this morning by an ATM mod. Story said recently that Bama and ATM are the only schools he's considering. He plans to announce his commitment July 18. Story has 8 CBs (100% Bama) including Hank South, Tim Watts and Shannon Terry (247 CEO).

I’ll be downright shocked if Story doesn’t commit and sign with Alabama.

1 Nightmare Scenario for Every Top 10 CFB Recruiting Class
quote:
College football recruiting never sleeps. And if a coaching staff is caught snoozing, that program is probably waking up to a nightmare on the trail.
Decommitments are commonplace in 2019, and protecting a star-studded class is a daily process that must be exhausting. The regular fight for coveted prospects—often regardless of their status—only adds to the difficulty.
Not even the highest-ranked teams are immune to the struggles—well, outside of Clemson and its remarkable "no decommits since 2016" streak. People change their minds. It happens.
But for programs with top-10 classes for 2020, what would a nightmare look like?

2. Alabama Crimson Tide
Nightmare scenario: No quarterback in class
Let's be serious. Short of head coach Nick Saban retiring and a portion of the class leaving along with him, what actually qualifies as a nightmare?
Alabama has addressed its biggest needs at wide receiver, linebacker and in the secondary. The Crimson Tide aren't immune to decommits, yet only an improbable mass exodus would be a real problem.
So considering the number of transfers in college football today, it's always wise to take a quarterback.
Top-100 talent Carson Beck decommitted in February, and Alabama isn't considered a favorite for any other top prospects at the position. If the Tide don't add a signal-caller, they absolutely must keep 4-star 2019 signees Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson for a few years.

The Opening Finals: 10 players on the cusp of a fifth star
quote:
To have a five-star ranking is to be part of an exclusive club. It’s a fraternity of 32 players per class on in the Top247 rankings, 32 players out of hundreds of thousands. So, landing that coveted title demands some certainty. As evaluators, we often look to a few events per year as play-in opportunities to cement the coveted certainty. The Opening Finals, because of its loaded roster, multi-day setting and elevated stage, serves as one of those play-in settings.
Heading into The Opening Finals, 247Sports has only handed out 12 five-star grades in the class of 2020. There will be 20 more five-stars by February. Here are 10 with a chance to make the jump in Texas.
The Opening Finals take place July 1-3 at The Star in Frisco, Texas, and are preceded by the Elite 11.

quote:
Arik Gilbert, ATH, Marietta (Ga.) High School
Uncommitted (Georgia is the Crystal Ball favorite)
Current rank: 14
The highest ranked non-five-star slated to be in attendance, Gilbert certainly looks the part: Rare size, long frame, good production. He’s pacing away from the ‘athlete’ tag into more of a true tight end and this is shaping up to be a fantastic cycle for that position. We’ve seen tight ends earn fifth stars with performances at The Opening in the past (Colby Parkinson, Jeremy Ruckert, Isaac Nauta), so we know what it should look like. If Gilbert is the best on hand, it may be hard to resist stamping him.

quote:
Drew Sanders, ATH, Denton (Texas) Ryan
Alabama commit
Current rank: 16
While Gilbert is trending towards the tight end position, Sanders is pacing towards the defensive side of the ball after being generally viewed as a tight end prospect. The frame, athleticism and intangibles have all checked out in a big way. Now it’s about seeing where Sanders stacks up with the other linebacker or edge prospects in this class. If the multi-position standout is already above his peers as a defensive playmaker, that will be quite a statement.

Darnell Washington, ATH, Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines
Uncommitted (Alabama leads Crystal Ball projections)
Current rank: 17
The third of our impressive group of jumbo athletes, Washington is simply one of the most unique prospects we’ve ever encountered. He’s over 6-foot-7, he runs really well, has excelled on both sides of the ball and is a matchup nightmare. The Opening Finals will give us an opportunity to scrutinize whether he’s just a big athlete or if he has the nuance to his game to make that five-star leap.

Bryce Young, Dual, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
USC commit
Current rank: 18
Any quarterback evaluation at a camp setting needs to be no more than a complement to what takes place in pads. Fortunately for Young, his resume in pads is fantastic. As the highest ranked quarterback in attendance, if Young can showcase physical tools that set him apart from the rest of the field, that may be the kind of splash that helps us visualize the first-round future that the five-star grade represents.

Jaquelin Roy, DT, Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab
Uncommitted (LSU is the Crystal Ball favorite)
Current rank: No. 101
The camp season and spring practices have been good to Roy. He’s the lowest ranked prospect on this list but he’s one of the hottest names in the country with a steep trajectory. Given the way he’s consistently dominated, a fifth star is within reach, even from outside the Top100.

I think Joel Williams will announce his commitment to Bama any day now.
