LINK ]Nation's No. 1 player visiting Alabama (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama is hosting LINK ]Jordan Burch, the No. 1 player in the country, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, on Friday for its Champions Cookout, BamaOnLine has confirmed.

The visit marks the Florence (S.C.) Hammond School product's second visited to Tuscaloosa this offseason, the first being for Junior Day back in February shortly after Alabama offered.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Burch was trending to Clemson throughout the spring, but schools like Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina have kept the race interesting in recent weeks.

Joining Burch in Tuscaloosa on Friday are a number of Tide commits, along with targets like five-star running back LINK ]Kendall Milton, four-star athletes LINK ]Joel Williams and LINK ]Kristian Story, and 2021 four-star inside linebacker LINK ]Kendrick Blackshire, among others.

247Sports compares Burch to Joey Bosa.

"Possesses a square-shouldered, well-proportioned athletic build. Has a developed lower body and strong base. Should comfortably hit 275 pounds while in college. Is a multi-sport athlete as a longtime AAU basketball player who is talented enough to play hoops at the college level. Dominates on both sides of the ball for a high school football program that wins a state championship every season in South Carolina’s private school league. A flexible, fluid athlete, Burch has the framework to develop into a top pass rusher at the next level. He plays with outstanding bend and leverage, with the ability to dip and run the arc off the edge. Has a high level first step and play speed in pursuit. Doubles as a strong, physical run defender and looks to play with a high effort level. Flashes his considerable athleticism as a running back, moving with high level explosiveness and fluidity for a prospect of his size. Though he receives outstanding coaching at Hammond, he rarely sees college-level talent on Friday nights. He looks to be the next elite pass rusher from South Carolina, a state that annually produces top-ranked defensive linemen. Has the potential to develop into an all-league, All-American type player with the upside of a top-10 pick."

Surge, you ever hear anything about 2021 5* DT Lee Hunter and Alabama? He is from Blount HS in the Mobile area and it is strange to never see him listed as a visitor or having any interest in us.

No, but I haven't kept up well on 2021 recruiting the last couple of months. Been busy on some home improvement projects. I need to get back up to speed. Since he's a 5-star with a nice offer list, it is puzzling that Bama hasn't offered him. So, I just now DMd Hank about him. Awaiting his reply.

ETA: Hank said, "He hasn't worked out for the staff yet to my knowledge. Probably contributing to it I'd think."

Xzavier Henderson, Columbus, WR

I am hoping coach Sal can sell this kid on being our next Judey as we need a WR with this size speed ratio in this class.
I know were are supposedly leading for the in state kid Williams .
But after Clemson got the top Wr out of our backyard
I think I am gonna wait to see if his teammate stays instate.
But this kid Henderson is also a Clemson VS Bama battle so We are need to at least win a split or hopefully both in this class.

quote:

“He (Coach Saban) really thinks I can come in and play right away,” Williams said. “He told me he likes players like me that are versatile, big, and fast. He thinks I can play corner, nickel and safety. He said he’ll put me anywhere.”

4-star DB/WR Joel Williams 6-1.5/180 LA hudl

Note: Joel Williams stayed overnight and is still at Bama today.

He has 48 D1 offers and is a low rated 4 star. That doesn’t add up.

While the offer list is likely inaccurate just because the offers are posted based on the honor system wih no good way to verify them, he has also been ranked as high as 171 in the country as recently as January. Looks like he just has a lot of his non-power 5 offers listed.

Regardless of his stars or ranking if Saban likes him I'm down.
