Maybe all 4 of them already silently committed to Avery, and they all know that, so their is no need to get the ball rolling. They all know they are coming and want to make a big splash :)

He's a must get for 2 reasons: he's a good player and would fill in for Hale nicely, but maybe more importantly, we can't take a perception hit of losing a recruit to uab. That was the final nail in Grant's coffin losing Lee to them.

Reese has been pretty low-key throughout his recruitment, but offered up this when asked the biggest factor in making his decision.

"Where I feel like I can get to the next level," Reese said. "I'm going to try to (sign in November). After that visit (to Alabama), I'll pretty much know where I'm going to go."

Have to feel very confident about Reese after that article. We'll know after his commitment if that is really what he is going by. There's no way he could actually think there's an easier path to the NBA with UAB and their rookie head coach. Throw in the fact that CAJ has actually played and coached at that level and the decision is incredibly easy based on that criteria.

Also...

quote:

They have this point-forward type concept that they're really trying to get me to come play there for," Reese said. "It means I'll be handling the ball a lot. It'll be in my hands a lot making different type of plays.

UAB is desperate...

This proves CAJ doesn't just look at rankings. Doesn't have a star rating on any major recruiting site, and that's bringing some heavy Artillery for an in-home visit. Seen Fleming's name just as much if not more than any other for 2018.

Why do we need him to commit yesterday? Petty is every bit as important. I could make a case that Reese and Hammonds are as well.

What if Sexton was holding off on a commitment in order to get Troy Brown on campus and is going to Kansas to keep up his end of the arrangement? I don't have a problem with that.

I'm confident in what we offer and believe we can compete with and beat Kansas for some recruits.

Pettway, Avery, and Pelphrey had an in-home visit with Galin Smith. Maybe he's the diamond in the rough for this year?

If those three went, you have to think so.

I think I posted some film of Gal in in this thread. I don't know how he isn't ranked. Kid looks like he can play.

We're not being honest with ourselves if we think that Brown and Sexton buddying up to go to Kansas after us isn't a problem. It is. Our program has been snakebit for so long. It's so hard not to think of the worst. Sexton and Brown ally up in Kansas or Zona. Reese follows his girl to UAB. Jones falls in love with Florida. Petty chooses UK. Disaster.

You forgot to mention how Ingram woke up Monday, discovered he had turned into an insect overnight and was late to early morning workouts.

Seriously though if all of that happens, the biggest shocker will still be Sexton not coming.

I'm not saying that I think all that actually happens. I was just pointing out the doomsday scenario. If, heaven forbid, it does go down that way then I'm afraid it'll prove that it just can't be done at Bama anymore. If Avery Johnson fails, it probably can't be done. He's the perfect man to tackle it though. Just gotta have faith in him.

Can't believe his name keeps popping up with us. Think there is a legit chance?

If he actually makes it to campus this weekend, then yeah I do. It's no longer just a courtesy visit when you visit twice in a month.

I know everyone is growing impatient and I have days when I feel it too, but the next two months are going to be really fun to see how this class takes shape.
