Stewart nailed the call.

Compare that to Eli’s lame scripted call of 2nd & 26....

Would take Crean or Matta

What are the current openings or most likely openings they would be interested in?

Pitt?

Why are we even talking about other coaches? Baring a scandal, Avery will be the coach here at least next season regardless of if we get in the tournament or not. Knowing that, why not wait to string him up till next season?

Odds are you're right, but you never know what could happen. Avery could take a job in a NBA front office. Really no reason not to have a discussion about things.

I like Crean, but he went 28-66 in his first 3 years at Indiana. That record doesn't make Avery's first 3 years look bad.

Is Pitt a good job? I have no idea about the situation up there.

I highly doubt he'd bail on his son's senior season. Why would a NBA front office want him anyways?

I believe Alabama Basketball will be great under Avery.

He just needs to change up the offense and defense including coaches

Indiana had some tough sanctions at one point. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with Crean's first few seasons

Here is an article. Yea the sanctions coincide with Crean's first few years.

Pitt blows at the moment, but they're in the ACC and they made the tournament all but 2 years from '02-'16.

Why wouldn't they. There are a lot of former players in those positions. I'm not even sure what they do

My best guess is it is not good long term job.

But I would I also think a coach could have some success there.

Just thought I heard it was now open and I would prefer Pitt to Ole Miss I think if I was a basketball coach.

ETA: This guy has information whereas I was just talking outta my hind parts.

I forgot about those sanctions. Anthony Grant sort of self imposed sanctions on us though

We should have learned a lesson with that. Grant got an extra year and almost got more than that. We could have had Pearl. I know folks don't like him,but he's a damn good coach

Pro teams hire so many retreads it wouldn't actually be shocking. The random rumour was the Pelicans though right? They've been playing pretty good since then.

Here is a little piece of that Indiana article. Crean was dumb for taking that job

Here’s a question. Whenever Pop retires from the Spurs, would they contact Avery?

I don't think we're at the point of giving Avery too much time yet. If we aren't a tournament team next year assuming the roster stays largely the same and healthy through the season, I'll really be off the bandwagon.

In my opinion, if you can get a Crean or Matta, you make the move. If you wait a year they might not be available. Avery hasn't done well enough to ignore those two guys. Loyalty doesn't exist in sports anymore.
