Look I'm gonna end the Perry discussion with this.. He is a fine player and some might even use the word good (I wouldn't) but at Alabama and especially in the secondary fine and good just aren't gonna cut it. That's just the way it will be as long as Saban is here. Fans expect an all american type of player year in and year out and no one is mistaking Perry for an AA.

I seem to remember similar criticism being leveled at Marquis Johnson between 2008 and 2009. We all know how that turned out.

Hopefully Perry can have a similar jump. He's clearly going to have a role this year. Geno not being on the field all the time sort of hurts the awesomeness of the 2015 team, but he'll still play a lot.

Guys, we're close to it being only 17 days. Get hyped.

Sims or Coker?

Ragland or Reuben?

Jones or Sylve or Brown or Jackson? (2)

I want both Qbs to play first game and I'll make my decision after that.

Me too, and they will. They may both play the first three games. It just depends if either guy can run away with it against WVU.

I think fau is the second game so it definitely should be decided after that game.

Yep, and Southern Miss is the third game. So no harm in letting it go for three games, but if it can be decided before than that's better. Under ideal circumstances, the guy is decided against WVU and gets all the reps vs FAU and Southern Miss to prepare for UF and Ole Miss with a span of three weeks with a bye in between.

Don't let anything escalate into an argument you guys. Just give your opinions, respect each other's opinion, and Roll Damn Tide.

I know the question wasn't for me but just watching what Geno did in the SEC tourney game lets me know he is better. Maybe he doesn't have the hitting ability but athletic wise you cant even compare. He should be able to cover more ground and also we should be able to run more blitzes because he can play man to man better.

Perry has gotten beat several times and it is because he isn't fast and agile enough. To play DB at a high level, you cannot be slow. Sunseri knew where to be, had great instincts, had hit power, and great hands. The kid would get burnt against speed. Same with Perry except from what I have seen it is much worse. He got beat badly against Jay Rome in the UGA game, but there are several more I've seen. Geno is very quick, keeps up with speedy guys, and is smooth. Better player. Plain and simple. Only reason Perry is out there is because of experience.

Speaking of Coker. Something else from the aforementioned reliable poster elsewhere:

quote:

He has impressed pretty much everyone so far, he has no entitlement from what I've been told. I haven't come across any negative comments about him.

This is what he said the other day, btw. I posted it here I think, but I don't remember.

quote:

Sims tried to play it safe and he's playing for completions, playing not to lose the job, he isn't playing to win the job if that makes sense. Coker made a couple of bad decisions but not as many as they thought he would make and the rest of the time he is playing to win, he isn't playing to be safe.

I just watched Auburn getting beat by FSU again. Couple of notes.

Their secondary is absolute trash. Their LBs are terrible at tackling in space. They are ok at pass rush with their LBs. Their DL is good. But this year they lose Ford and Lawson. 2 of their big 4. Adams and wright will still be good.

Their OL is good but they lost Kozan and Robinson. Dismukes is overrated. He got his arse handed to him by Timmy Jernigan. The biggest thing that stood out to me about their OL was why the frick Robinson went 2nd overall. MARIO EDWARDS JR WHIPPED HIS frickING arse LIKE A LITTLE BITCH the whole game. Their receivers are actually pretty good. Adding Williams will make them tough, but marshall can't throw worth a shite, so theres that. Their success last season was built off of miracles, an unorthodox system, and good special teams play. They lose all of their special teams.

They'll be lucky to win 9 games. I think they go 8-4 or 7-5. Lose to Alabama, LSU, SCAR, and 1 of MSU or UGA. Maybe both. They have to face Yeldon, Henry, Drake, Mike Davis, Gurley and UGA's stable, Fournette, and the 2 arkansas backs by season's end. That is going to beat them to shite.

The thing is that when you see Perry get beat its the same as when J Williams get beat. They are in man coverage. You cant really compare him to Vinnie. I honestly think they've been put in the wrong position due to the fact of injuries and suspensions. Jarrick Williams would've never been playing Star last year if Geno didn't get in trouble.

I wouldn't say that. Therezie is pretty good. Not top tier or anything, but he's pretty good.

Ellis Johnson.

Their DL will still be fine. They're really deep.

Define overrated. I think he's a top 3 Center in CFB. But that doesn't mean it won't be a down year for Centers in CFB.

Jernigan was one of the toughest players to block last year.

Edwards is an eventual first round pick, imo. Beast.

I think they'll either win the West or finish second in the West.

I've been watching the offense from last year. Shepherd is a lot more fundamentally sound in pass pro than I've given him credit for. He did a good job of it most of the time. His real problem is lack of power. He doesn't really move guys. He's fundamentally sound, and in our ZBS he knows what to do and can direct lesser players, but he didn't display the power to dominate. Maybe he's gotten stronger.

Thinking about it, we have a big OL, but two of our three returning starters are better pass protectors than run blockers. Kelly and Shepeherd. Interesting.
