The man was working construction…key word “working”…hell of a guy to be willing to do what it takes to feed his family with a honest hardworking job.

Local NBA player I know told me all they do for them to invest. Basically if you are willing to listen, just think and sign the dotted line. They do lots for them. Most probably don't listen.

If the NFL would step up and educate their employees on financial health, he would have never been working construction in the first place. Make almost $20MM over 4 years in the league. Sad.

I believe they do make an effort in this regard but not all are receptive to the message and that is what is sad. Even if he only was able to retain half of that he should never need to work again.

Actually the NFL does have such a program. It's called The National Football League Financial Education Program (FEP).

It provides players with valuable knowledge to manage their personal finances and improve financial decision-making. The objective of the program is to ensure the long-term financial stability of players throughout the league.
