When Leonard chose Toronto - did he actually choose them, or was he traded to them by the Spurs? - the prevailing thought at the time was that it'd be a one-year deal, and then he'd take control of his own future and become a free agent, and go to the best bidder. So all of this is pretty "meh" to me, as news.....

Traded to Toronto. Leonard was trying to force the Spurs to trade him home to sunny LA but he was such a little bitch about the whole situation that the Spurs sent him to the coldest city in the NBA instead
