A lot of it depends on the competition where you live.
The girl's soccer teams are elite here in my area. The public high school girl's team just made the State tourney for ~18th year in a row. They lost in the Final in what was considered a 'down' year by their standards due to losing a couple games. The team in Knoxville that beat them has made the State Finals 5 out of the last 6 years and feeds Division 1 women's programs with talent year in and year out. I know things change when cars and boys enter the equation but when my daughter is a freshman in high school there will be anywhere from 20-25 college soccer players on her high school team (Not all Division 1 players but you get the picture). She started playing competitive in 4th grade which is considered late by women's soccer standards around here. The two private schools that are both less than 2 miles away from her school also played each other for the TN private school state title. Both those teams will send 2-3 girls to college programs year in and year out. The other private school that's a mile or two from those schools and isn't as 'good' just sent US GK Tim Howard's daughter to the Univ of TN. No girl can keep up and compete at a high level without playing competitive soccer and training 10-11 months out of the year in our area of Tennessee. Knoxville, Chattanooga and the Nashville suburbs are the same. There's also an elite talent pool up in Carmel, Noblesville and other suburbs North of Indianapolis and those girls all start playing competitive in elementary/early middle school.
That being said, AAU Basketball and Travel Baseball are massive money hustles out here in the suburbs on the boys side

A big part of Kewan transferring from CoMo to Oxford was because he quickly saw that their Journalism Dept wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The NIL money only played a minor role. Much like Missouri's football team in the current college football landscape.

I'll see your Hugh suggestion and raise you.
Thomas. Hawley. Tuberville.
He's going to give up his seat as Senator and come riding back to Oxford inside of a pine box derby car. He'll then go 7-5 back to back seasons and quit.

He's not in Collierville. Jimmy's on that nice property next to Barrett Jones' parents. Between this deal and letting Tunsil take the mic on draft night Mr Sexton will not be getting the outwardly friendly, Southern honkey smile and head nod from me any more.

You have to wait and see how it plays out but everyone is saying the same thing. Sexton asked for lots of things. Those things were guaranteed. Then Jimmy ran to Florida and LSU with the offer in hand and said this is what you have to beat. That's his job at the end of the day as an agent but man it stinks to high heaven.

Never would've believed Kentucky vs Vanderbilt would have much more meaning than Florida/Tennessee and Texas/Arkansas back in August.
Oklahoma Mizzou will have a lot of eyes on it. Hardy trying to sneak into the Heisman conversation and Oklahoma has been playing CFB elimination football ever since their home loss to OM.

Two weeks of this crap is going to be such a distraction from what this team and these coaches really need to be focusing on. Finding a way to beat MSU in Starkville in an early morning kick. You'd think after all the shite that Rebel football fans have been through they'd be a little more thick skinned.

They have to invite Hardy up there if he has a decent game against Oklahoma. Leads the nation in rushing yards, YPC and scored 15 TDs on less than 200 carries through 10 games. 2 more to go and you know he's going to light up the Arkansas D.

That might be what happens in two weeks. Or he may announce he's going to Florida after the Egg Bowl.
LSU's role in this is simple. Sexton needs your AD (or whatever team of people running your coaching search) to put some outlandish $$$ numbers onto a contract and place it on his desk. The Rebels and Gators have to match or come very close to matching those numbers. That's it. That's the part LSU will play in the 2025 Lane Kiffin coaching saga. I know you all hoped the outside noise would derail the Rebs' season but this team and coaching staff seem pretty focused on their goal of making the CFB Playoff. Your university needs to honor their contract with CBK first and foremost.

Thank you for the perspective. It was miserable just sitting in the stadium for Nutt's last Egg Bowl in Oxford. The offensive playbook looked like something out of a high school JV game and our sound system didn't even work correctly. Rebs losing 31-9 late in the 3rd quarter with no hope of winning while Masoli ran for his life play after play. Makes it very easy to appreciate these last several years.

A quick recap
LSU signed a coach to a $100 million contract. $95,000,000 base with bonus potential to easily tack on another 5-10 mil in the coming years. Said Coach then donates millions, literally millions of his own money, to your NIL collective. You then fire him midseason when he's 5-3 and say screw the binding contact we signed and you can go kick rocks. Also as a final 'frick you !' we aren't going to pay you the $50+ million we contractually owe you.
How are you still deluded enough into believing Lane wants any part of that ?!!? Why would any established coach who is in a good position currently that also has multiple other suitors want to step into that complete cluster frick of a situation ? We're all fans at the end of the day but my God you guys have to take a step back and at least try to be somewhat objective on this one.

Does anyone really think this Ole Miss team is going to win the CFP?
It's a playoff. It's all about the bracket and matchups. Just shooting from the hip because things will change the next two weeks but you don't think Ole Miss could beat Notre Dame in Oxford and then beat Indiana in a bowl game ?!? They absolutely could do that. Rebs would be a TD favorite at home against the Irish and the Hoosiers would be what ?! A 3.5-6.5 point favorite in the bowl game on a neutral field. Just a bad take. Really bad.
