Alex Bregman Gives Awesome Quote About Astros Not Playing Primetime
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports
The Houston Astros vs. Cleveland Indians series, which the Astros won, had terrible start times that included 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. ET to give the Red Sox/Yankees series the primetime slot. Rather disrespectful if you ask Astros star Alex Bregman, who shared his thoughts about the early start times...
quote:

“Does Tiger Woods tee off at 8:00 am when he’s going to win a Masters? Does Floyd Mayweather fight the first fight of the night? No, he’s the main event, right? So the ‘Stros need to be playing primetime television, 7:00 pm. We’re looking forward to playing primetime television in the ALCS,” Bregman told MLB Network’s Heidi Watney in an interview.
Love this dude.

This is a young man playing the game that he loves at a very high level. He was just talking smack. Some of these comments are ridiculous

I love that Bregman has done so well for himself in the MLB. It's awesome. But the bottom line is the Astros v. Indians matchup wouldn't have drawn nearly the viewership that one of the oldest and greatest rivalries in all of sports.

They were world champs last year, not the best team this year. This year, the best team at the time gets primetime. And please stop comparing the Astros to dynasty type legends.

Someone needs to tell him that nobody outside Houston cares about the Astros

Well that's just false. They traveled extremely well for EVERY single series on the road this year. Opposing teams stated that they were near on par with Red Sox, Yankees and Cubs with travel this year. Do some research before commenting.
