Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reports that LSU is targeting former Florida State offensive coordinator Alex Atkins to join Brian Kelly's staff in Baton Rouge.
Atkins joined Mike Norvell's staff at Florida State in 2020 as offensive line coach. In 2022, he was named the team's offensive coordinator but was fired last November when the Seminoles were 1-9.
He spent the 2019 season as the OC and OL coach at Charlotte. Before that, Atkins was at Tulane from 2016 to 2018 as assistant head coach, OL coach, and run game coordinator.
Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reported that Atkins could serve as tight end coach and run game coordinator.
Slade Nagel, who coached LSU's tight ends and special teams last season, left the staff in December to be the offensive coordinator at Houston.
