No. 8 LSU Overcomes Sloppy First Half, Pulls Away From Louisiana Tech For 45-14 Win

No. 8 LSU overcame a sloppy first half to pull away from Louisiana Tech for a 45-14 victory Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers led just 10-7 at halftime after quarterback Sam Leavitt threw three first-half interceptions, including a pick-six late in the second quarter.
LSU settled down after the break and took control, outscoring the Bulldogs 35-7 in the second half to improve to 2-0 in Lane Kiffin's first season.
Despite the turnovers, Leavitt finished with 344 passing yards and four total touchdowns, including three on the ground.
Tight end Trey'Dez Green had a monster night with six catches for 104 yards and his first touchdown of the season, while Tre Wilson added six catches for 93 yards.
LSU finished with 528 yards of total offense, while the defense held Louisiana Tech to just 140 total yards, including minus-3 rushing yards on 31 attempts, and forced three turnovers. Princewill Umanmielen led the pass rush with two sacks, while Deuce Geralds added another.
Outside of a 67-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, Louisiana Tech struggled to generate much of anything against LSU's defense.
The Tigers will now turn their attention to their first road game of the season next Saturday at Ole Miss.
