LSU coach Brian Kelly addressed the media on Monday and was asked about improving the run game on offense.

The Tigers had 31 carries for 108 yards, averaging 3.5 yards per rush, in the season opener against Clemson.

This past Saturday against Louisiana Tech, LSU ran the ball 34 times for 128 yards, averaging 3.8 yards per carry.

Here's what Kelly had to say about the run game:
quote:

"I think we can be technically better," Kelly said.

"We want to improve and be critical in our analysis. There are some things that we need to do better as coaches and players, and I think that's probably the run game more than anything else."
Kelly was also asked if freshman running back Harlem Berry earned more touches after his impressive performance vs. Louisiana Tech.

Berry led the Tigers in rushing yards vs. the Bulldogs, carrying the ball 6 times for 56 yards, and broke a 43-yard run.
quote:

"He required a conversation," Kelly responded about Berry. "Running the football is so much more about next level and making people miss. We knew he was talented. This is much more about catching up to the system we run with protections out of the backfield and right reads."

"So, yeah, it required a conversation that this is a guy we need to keep an eye on."

I said it in the stadium. LSU WRs block better than the o line.

Great blocking. If he had waited for one more lock he would have scored. A natural runner with instincts that cannot be taught. He's going to fun for us to watch for several years to come
