During his Monday press conference, Brian Kelly was asked about quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and his performance through three games this season.

While Kelly was happy with his play, he said there is always room for growth and knows Nussmeier is committed to improving.
quote:

"The quarterback is going to be the most scrutinized position in college football," Kelly said.

"I think he leads the country in the touchdown passes. We have no chance to win that game unless he makes some of those incredible throws, but there's more to it than just arm talent. You have to bring some of the other intangibles and he's going to. This was his third game on the road, and he showed the resolve and leadership to keep us in there, mounting a 55-yard drive at the end of the game to get us into the endzone."

"We all have to get better, coaches and players alike; he does as well. But we have a talented quarterback, but he knows that there is some growth there. The great thing about it is that there is not a more committed guy on our roster."

"We have a lot of committed guys but Garrett is so committed that he's going to work at his craft."

Nuss starts to fall apart when situations get high stakes. He did it by throwing an INT at end of game. He threw a couples passes that should've been an INT. Against USC he couldn't get it in the endzone at end of game. 2 pt conversions, he trips and can't get it in.

In lower pressures situations, Nuss can be great. He has got to be able step up when it matters most. Running game isn't good enough at this point to count on Josh Williams getting it in from 2 yards out even though he did that Saturday.
