On Thursday, the NCAA FBS Oversight Committee voted to move to a January transfer window and eliminate the spring window.
The Committee also proposed making the entire month of December a recruiting dead period.
LSU coach Brian Kelly spoke with reporters on Thursday and said he was in favor of both and is very pleased with the single transfer portal window.

"I'm pleased that the oversight committee moved that along," Kelly said.
"We were in favor of the January 2nd-11th period. It allows us to set our rosters for the rest of the year and not put us in a position where we're using revenue share and NIL, and then we don't see them because they transfer."
"I think it's a great move, also with December being a dead period because of all the things that go on. It's important to educate your players in December, 'Should you stay, should you go, should you go to the NFL?' We're still signing a class. So I think those are all positive from my perspective."
"And I like the no-earlier-than-November signing. We want to protect the sanctity of the high school senior season and those teams. We don't want kids to sign in August and say, 'Why do I need to play high school football?'
"I think the [rules] are all very positive, and I think they are all moving towards the progress we need to have the kind of system in place to deal with the ever-changing landscape that we're in."
