LSU veteran guard Tyrell Ward will not play in the season opener vs. Louisiana-Monroe, head coach Matt McMahon announced this week.

McMahon did not reveal why Ward will not play or his current status heading into the opener.

Ward, a junior from Washington, D.C., did not play in LSU's exhibition win over Loyola last week at the PMAC and was in sweats as the team warmed up prior to the game.

Ward played in 31 games last season with ten starts and averaged 9.1 points and 2.3 rebounds a game.

I'm confused. "Will redshift and transfer" yesterday. Today in sweats warming up but out for the first game. I'm getting mixed reports.

That's what I thought too! Headline should just say 'Out for opener'
