Five-star LSU signee Julian Phillips announced this weekend that he has been granted his release from LSU and has reopened his recruitment.

Phillips, a 6-8, 200-pound prospect from Branson, Missouri (Link Year Prep) is rated the No. 2 power forward in the country and the No. 15 overall recruit for the class of 2022. He signed with LSU this past November over USC, Tennessee, and Florida State.

One of the worst things is when you go on probation, the rule has always been that all players are eligible to leave. Not only does it affect your recruiting but you lose players on the current roster. When Bama's penalties came down in 02 we lost the scholarships for new players and like a dozen current players left. I'm surprised he was granted a release with actual penalties being handed down.
