Baton Rouge, La. – LSU Baseball defeated VMI, 11-8, Friday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

LSU moves to 1-0 on the season, and VMI moves to 0-1.

The Tigers will be back in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field, to face Central Arkansas on Saturday at 1 PM CT. The game will be streamed on SECN+ and available on the LSU Sports Radio Network.

Nate Ackenhausen earned the win with three innings pitched, six strikeouts, and two walks.

You know why it was so close? LSU is reigning National Champions. VMI is a below average program. But this will probably be their high watermark of the year. Everyone will play the Tigers tough. Miss St & Ole Miss couldn’t take the pressure & it cost them plenty. I’m a firm believer Coach Johnson will do his best not to let that happen to the Tigers. Hopefully Skip gave him a few pointers , because he did very well after winning it all.
