After Brian Ortega had to withdraw from the co-main event of tonight's UFC 303 card, Dan Ige, who was supposed to fight three weeks from now, is instead fighting Diego Lopes on three hours notice. Ige reportedly said that he's been waiting his "whole life" for this kind of opportunity, according to ESPN's Jon Anik, who shared a text on the broadcast from Ige to UFC CBO Hunter Campbell that read:

quote:

Hey Hunter, I've been in camp for 3 months. I'm the healthiest I've ever been, I can fight this guy tonight and beat him. This is what legends are made of. I'm in. I'm ready. I'm in great shape. Please don't take this opportunity away from me.

No, I am pretty sure he just pays x amount for you to be on standby. Maybe he does give some more money if they have to fight, but I have never heard that.
