Alabama center Ryan Kelly worked out at the NFL Combine in on Friday and showed off some serious speed for a big man in the 40-yard dash.

Kelly, who is projected as the No. 1 center in the NFL Draft, ran a 5.05 unofficial in the 40.

they should do away with the 40. focus more on the 10-20 times. useless info after 30 me thinks.

NO...the 40 is the correct distance, needs to be long enough to measure transition speed. But down from 60 and 50 in years past. Shuttle or cone drills measure 8-10 yard speed.

The 40 yd was instituted by Paul Brown as it was the distance needed to cover a punt football fans
