Let me see, about $1,200 per month stipend,5K per year Pell Grant,"emergency funds" and clothing allowance.I think just about every UGA college student could "get by" on this amount.

BTW...does not include tuition and books.

I've noticed something recently. You seem to be fairly "normal" on here, yet at the very same time you go on teh main SEC board and your SC baord and lambast uga at every turn. Just curious what your angle is.

A fricking men. Why the hell he has access here is beyond me.

Id imagine if they didnt have them arrested it would have been a major NCAA violation.

I didn't think of that at first, but that's right, and that would've been a major violation, the funds were coming directly from the athletic dept too.

Old dawgrant.com memeber, grandfathered into this board during the Great Migration of '12. The divergence of my SECr board rhetoric compared to my posts on here is based on an "un-written" rule that you don't shite in your neighbor's house. So while I talk a lot of trash on the SC or main board, I realize that this is another team's board (house) so I don't stir it up. There are several other SC posters who have access here or vice versa with UGA fans and the SC board and we all kind of abide by that. So far it has worked for over a year.

if the AA are the ones that pressed charges and
Richt doesn't get the message about the thugs he recruits, then...I give up..

it's obvious that the AA wants a clean program and isn't particularly concerned about championships, but much more about economics of the program, and they support Richt almost 100% because of the quality individual he is..why do we even bother with these toads in the first place..

Not excusing what they did, just wondering if they actually paid these kids one would think these types of incidents would likely diminish, if not completely stop.

Be careful what you ask for....at least these are misdemeanors. You honestly think these geniuses would be honest enough to file a tax return if they were getting paid. We would then be looking at felony tax evasion every offseason. You think the CCPD is hard to deal with....try the IRS.

Have you every had a job you thought you were getting paid "enough". Ain't no such thing as enough....they/we always want more no matter how much it is. Just won't work.

If uga only recruited kids who didn't smoke weed and were essentially guaranteed to never get in trouble, you'd probably have a hard time fielding a team, much less one that is actually competitive.

The problem isn't wiht the people you recruit, it's with your ADepartment.

heard an interesting discussion about paying football players in college...apparently this opens up a major can of worms for these young men. they could be held responsible for childsupport and a myriad of things today's college player doesn'y have to worry about. essentially the guy on the radio said college athletes would be insane to want this..

ends up being a situation that you don't try to "fix" because of the actions of some thugs and ne'erdowells who probably don't belong on a college campus anyway..

I would rather see the NFL instigate a minor league or developmental system like MLB does where the players can become professional out of high school and if they crap out after a few years, get some money to obtain a post high school education on a level they belong in..

Funny how this revolves around money yet again. These kids are freaking broke while the colleges make millions off of them.

Those checks are spending money given to these clowns as part of their scholarship. So, this is theft. This is money you pay for tickets or give to the Hartman Fund.
If you think the players should get paid more, then send them money yourself. But send cash, not a check. They might try to hit your account twice.
