Are you doubting that someone with a death wish escalated things to the level that he was shot?
Or just not happy with the circumstances that someone with a pocket knife got shot?

The kid got what he/she/it asked for! It's not hard to understand. It reported itself, with a gun and knife and didn't back down when the cop told it too.

It does raise the question of why the officer went to the gun first. They do have batons, tasers, and mace as options, too.

The shooting probably didn't have to happen, but then again, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

First of all, we're all making assumptions based on limited information. I have no idea what really happened.

But - regardless if the guy wanted to get shot - I don't like the increasing low threshold that we're hearing of police using deadly force. I have no sympathy for BLM or any of that garbage but can also step back and see that we have problems if the cops get more and more leeway to shoot anyone that they perceive to be a threat. If you or I shot somebody on the street that we felt threatened by - and all they had was a Leatherman - you can bet your arse we'd be answering a lot of questions.

The facts may come out and this clown may have totally deserved it but on the surface I would've hoped they sprayed or batoned this poor bastard before they shot him in the chest.

Y'know what? You're right. As a matter of fact, that sounds like a great way to deal with suicide prevention. Why waste money trying counsel crazy people? Sure he didn't hurt anyone or do anything other than being off his rocker - but if he wants to kill himself who are we to stop him? Hell...we don't even need to waste time involving the police. Let's just shoot all suicidal people ourselves - problem solved!

And obviously, if you don't do what the police tell you to then you deserve to be shot and killed. I mean, that goes without saying.

You're right. It's not that hard.

He was depressed because he identified as a Georgia student but had to go to Tech.

It was a multi-tool. Almost like needle nose pliers. Pootie Tang could've taken that away with his belt. That kid did not look very strong in the picture I saw.

You don't have to be strong to stab somebody, and a multi-tool also has a knife included. I doubt the cops shot him because he advanced toward them in a non-threatening way.

It really would solve a whole bunch of problems. Let the murderers kill suicidal people and both parties get their fix.

Just so y'all know, the cop was a chick. Does that factor into y'all's equations?

Have you seen the video? It was moving very slowly. It's hands never came up above it's waist. I'm very conservative politically. I have no sympathy towards weirdos. I do; however, have an issue with a lot of police shootings I've seen.

The folks that are quick to say "I would shoot" obviously have never shot anyone. Those that have remember it every day for the rest of their lives.

Protesting about a gay guy who threatened a cop with a knife. I though Georgia tech was the smarter school, guess not

Protesters weren't students, for the most part.

The threshold should always be fear of death or serious bodily harm.

The account I heard was that the "victim" had a knife and was slowly approaching the cop telling them to shoot him and that he was told multiple times to drop the knife before he was shot. If that is true, I don't blame the cop.
