My main problem with Richt and I have plenty of them is this: the man has no idea how to put a complete team on the field. It is like buying tires, you pay a lot of money, but the doofus forgets to tighten the lug nuts.
When we have a good offense our defense is porous. When we have a good defense our offensive line sucks because we can't recruit lineman for shite. When we have a good offense and mediocre defense, we have Logan tricking Gray fair catching every punt which tells you exactly what our special teams are doing.
He is like Bobby Cox good in the regular season, shites the bed when it really counts.

How about this.

Maybe Richt is simply not smart enough to evolve. Football is not static. Evolve, innovate or get run over. Richt's offense is stale. Further the pool of candidates to run his offense diminishes every year as more and more high schools switch to spread offenses. Richt recruited Cam as a tight end, played Nick at DB and didn't bother to recruit Watson.

It is my opinion that Kathryn's illness profoundly affected Richt. I believe he lost focus. I'm not being critical, except for the fact he is paid a shite ton of money to focus on winning games. He should have retired and become a missionary.

Bottom line: Richt should have been out after the 2010 season. He should be a foot note at this point.

What does it mean to me? I shouldn't care nearly as much about UGA football as I do. Apathy, my new friend.

i think on a certain level he knows the 'things' he needs to implement in his program to compete with alabama etc

but at his core he is too damn soft to be a football coach in the sec and he absolutely cannot change that. and like all coaches his teams reflect his personality.

I can live with that as long as you also found it humorous.

There is no humor - I SAID NO HUMOR, SIR! - in the sordid affair of domestic abuse.

That was more Maddux, Glavin and Smoltz than Bobby, but yes he presided over a championship team which Richt will never do.

So when 2019 rolls by and we've just lost to Missouri and another mediocre Florida team you'll still be saying the same thing.

Specifics. What--specifically--would/should a different coach do differently that would give us different results?

Deal...

Ga has more kids on SEC rosters than any other state. So how about having as much or more talent than any other SEC roster. How about not letting Deshaun Watson, Knemdiche, etc end up on rival rosters. How about not having your team charge the field against UF just to have Meyer call timeouts in the waning second to rub it in your face after getting curb stomped the next year. How about not having them not starting a fight with Bama before an arse whooping at home. How about not having players become stars AFTER they leave your program. How about having a better winning % against ranked teams in the last season than 30%? How about not hiring Joe T as S/C coach. How about not pooch kicking against GT. I could go on all night.

If you get hired by Google to design a badass web browser and are given your pick of the worlds best web developers and year after year you come with a new frickin Alta Vista you should have your arse canned. PERIOD.

Employ a recruiting scheme that allows for depth and doesn't leave entire sections of the roster depleted on a revolving, and continuing, basis.

I feel like you're over analyzing it. If someone sucks at their job, they get fired. The "why" doesn't matter.
This. It's a simple question: "Do you believe Richt can get the max potential out of the program?"

If yes - keep him.
If no - don't keep him

And I am fully aware that UGA isn't going to be like Alabama, competing for the playoff on a yearly basis. We have never been a program at that level. I won't lie though, Id be pretty nice to not wonder why we have multiple games per year that we look abysmal in. Especially when things are on the line. And against new coaches or, Richt's personal favorite, coaches needing a signature win.

I'm sure it'll come out in a few years that Richt was getting paid under the table by fellow coaches to provide signature wins to those in need. 100k if you just need it to get a little more leverage with the AD, $200k for one to make boosters happier, and maybe $500k for one to save your job?

I want to know what actions are being taken or not taken that lead to teams not being prepared so I know that the search for a new coach will lead to someone who will prepare the "right" way.

Here is one specific example, in my opinion. I recall that at one point Richt was resistant to the idea of an IPF. From what I've read, Pruitt pushed for the IPF not only because it wad ridiculous for a program like Georgia to not have one, but he also believed the team wasted too much time on buses. The result: IPF and the team now flies out of Athens. Credit Pruitt with both.

5-15 against the last 20 top 25 ranked opponents at the University of Georgia.

This stat is abysmal and should be unacceptable at the University of Georgia.

No use arguing any longer. I guess it doesn't matter why we lose. Lets just hope we get lucky with the next hire.
