Looking forward to it.

I'd love to be wrong about Grantham. I said it before, but I'm not a a defensive guru. I'm an amateur couch jockey when it comes to football. What I've seen from my couch looked really bad. The number of points allowed seemed to validate what I was seeing, as well as the big plays we gave up time and time again (including 3rd and long conversions).

To me, our defense looked awful, and the players looked like lost little puppies.

To top it off, at the beginning of the season, I heard reports of former players saying that their NFL playbooks were less complex/voluminous than CTG's playbook. That made total sense when I watched our defense this past season.

I'm 24, I watch a lot of football, I played HS football, and own a copy of NCAA 14. I KNOW what I am talking about.

Yup. I can out-coach anyone with my mad videogame football skills.

this post sums it up....we looked like shite all season on D...and that big play in the Nebraska game when they took the time out right before when Herrera was losing his mind..they had the crowd on their side too..i was there and yelling..and they still fricking blew it...that is squarely on CTG..Pruitt will be an improvement...has to be..

I couldn't tell if it was an alter Deeprig from this board trolling the main board on the Rant last night or if its him that trolls us on a regular basis. I figured it was/is inside information.

Is it that the scheme was too hard or was it that there was a growing distention with the defensive players? Throw in that maybe his way of teaching was to call people out or sit them when they didn't get it...

There is more do it than just it being too complex. You have to get the players to buy into it and you have to teach them. That so why so many were sitting during the bowl game and why it got to the level of parents complaining to Richt. And why his agent started sending out feelers after the bowl game...

Just one ongoing defender in denial.

When Damian Swann pats his helmet with one hand and points his hand furiously at the ground while communicating to Shaq Wiggins or Quincy Mauger, indicating Mauger needs to take two steps up, or otherwise indicating to them what they need to do, is that what yall are calling "Everybody is jumping up and down and waving their hands in the air confused!" ???

It's called a "Play Call" Coaches signal it in, Swann in this case, the most experienced, the captain, starts signalling the other guys what they need to do, and gets frustrated if one of them isn't doing it right. All teams do this. All defenses do this. Do any of you watch football games other than UGA?

Remember that big 3rd down 100 yard TD NEbraska got, and everyone said our defense was confused and jumping up and down, when in actuality Mauger was only 1 step away from intercepting that ball, and he was right on time to make the tackle... Mauger flat out missed the tackle. Touchdown.

Waving hands in the air confused? No. Freshmen, second string in Mauger's case, making an individual mistake.

How about the big 4th down conversion for the Auburn win? Everyone was right where they were supposed to be.... Trigga and THC batted the ball up and Auburn got lucky and scored a TD. It has nothing to do with running around like idiots waving hands in the air completely confused. Just poor individual execution.

Want to talk about how individual fundamentals and needed to be worked on? Grantham should have spent more time or better time on it? Fine. But these were either true freshmen or first year starters, not like it's a senior who has been under CTG's tutelege for 4 years still fricking up. Freshmen gonna freshmen, especially in the secondary in this elite level of play, vs Sammy Watkins, Landry, Beckham, Coates, and so forth.

So that time Swann was patting his head and half the D was looking at the sideline, and Mike Davis went for 80 yds, that was by design....

Gotcha. Glad you're here

Half? Only half were looking at the sideline?

Usually all 11 will look at the sideline for the playcall at some point.

Was the offensive play a quick-snap? Was there any poor tackling that led to that? I assume the play was a handoff.... was it up the middle or around the edge? Was UGA in a nickel?

Weird how the system allows me to both downvote and upvote the thread.

Also weird how all my detractors are conveniently away when I'm available to defend myself.
