You have to admit though.......Grantham pulled off one hell of a mastermind coup when he stole Jarvis Jones from USC......

I mean, can you imagine where the 2012 season would of been without Grantham convincing JMFJ that he was a better fit at UGA than USC??!

The secondary was very good under Grantham in 2012.

Debatable.

I don't know. Couldn't have been too hard, since USC had declared him medically ineligible.

But hey - way to go Grantham!

So, you're saying that Grantham didn't recruit JMFJ at all?...(GASP!!!!)......and that it was the USC doctor's overly-cautious interpretation of Jarvis's neck issues that caused him to fall into Grantham's lap........making Grantham's D look better than it actually even was in 2012 by saving 2 or 3 games all on his own????

Thanks for the scoop.

It's actually deeprig9's thread though.....

But, go ahead and get mad at ME........and not at yourself......... because the sarcasm of my JMFJ subway sandwich post flew over your head. That is the less painful way to do it...........

Rodney Garner was a shitty DL coach and didn't get a damn thing out of his players, Grantham couldn't fire him because he was Richt's pet, and recruiting coordinator.

True. Clearly lacking motivation at UGA

BUT

DL was supposed to be Grantham's strong point. And you can't tell me that DL wasn't talented. It was piss poor and soft.

Fwiw I have a source who told me that Grantham D was complicated. It was made more complicated by the fact that he would add stuff every single week so it could fit perfectly VS what the offense was doing.

In the SEC, your defense has to have an element of disguise and complexity or the OC's are going to eat your lunch. In hindsight it's easy to say Grantham should have dumbed it down for his younger secondary, and they were actually in the process of doing just that.

Grantham's secondaries, outside of 2013, were actually pretty damn good while he was here.

Some of yall have really short memories. Normally it was the run defense we were all pissed off about, a weak DL with linebackers having to make too many tackles.

Then Garner leaves, Wilson comes in, and suddenly our run defense and DL play finishes in the top third of the conference (SEC vs SEC stats) in 2013.

The shitty defense last year all comes down to one thing... young inexperienced secondary with the only potential young incoming star Trigga spending half the season hurt.

The defense, overall, played well enough for us to win most of our games.

The offense (injuries) and special teams did not.

The worst part is the false narrative that players were looking at the sideline confused on every play, yall even have the Bleacher Report guy on the Bulldog Roundtable repeating it on Monday.

It's like a bitch ex girlfriend that you yelled at one time, but by the time she tells her friends, and they tell their friends, the story is that you picked her up and held a knife to her throat before throwing her down in a bathtub and pissing on her while she trembled and cried.
