Not really.

Going to stay on the Lambert train but I'm very underwhelmed with his play.

Yeah, me neither. But, he's who we got for now, so roll with it and see what happens.

Actually, we may have that in Ramsey or Bauta, but we don't really know for certain. What we do know for 1000% certain, is that Lambert is not capable of being that guy.
You're right. The coaches don't want to play the best guy for the job anymore. They know Ramsey or Bauta would do a much better job but are holding out on us. If this sample size is enough for you to say Lambert will suck forever, what was it about Ramsey's play from last year that inspired you to think he'd do any better?

Whether people like our QB options or not, it's not like the coaches are going to purposefully play someone they think isn't the best option.

That's true. However, it doesn't mean they've picked the right one. If Lambert faceplants again, I'm sure they'll switch things up.

I agree with that. I was just saying that if it has already been decided that Lambert is gonna be a disaster this year, the coaches would be giving meaningful time to someone else.

It's not necessarily ground breaking but the end of his piece nails it.
quote:

The feeling here is we still don’t know very much about this Georgia team. The offense may very well be better than it’s shown. The defense and special teams have both had mostly good moments, but also some low ones. Consistency is an issue in those two phases of the game. As for the offense, well, it’s not good enough yet.

But “yet” is the key word. Whether or not the coaches have been holding stuff back, a closer reading of Georgia’s offensive performance shows that the book is still very much out.

And that is why we have such polar opposites in our fan base right now. We could be incredible or we can be just so very mediocre. People here and in our fanbase who are prone to being Disneys see the potential if our defense plays a little more consistently and our QB shows up we can be awesome. Then there's other folks who realize that a performance like Saturday is going to get Georgia ripped to shreds.

I'll get ripped for this but I think I'd almost rather see Bauta back there IF Lambert and Ramsey are really that inept at throwing the football. He opens up another dimension as a legit running threat and surely he can complete passes in the short and intermediate range. Schotty has a run game designed for the QB obviously with that Keep that Lambert ran in for a TD.

You could also argue that he wasn't getting good coaching at UVA and thus while he has more game experience than the other options, he could be more raw with his fundamentals.

There's a reason he's not the QB at Virginia. All you had to do was watch the VA/ND game. That QB for VA was alot better than Lambert. Lambert might be serviceable, but we won't see the "real deal" until next year.

Hopefully our RB's/Defense will be enough to take us to the SECCG.

I have liked Faton the whole time but I guess there is a reason he is third string!

The dude just isn't comfortable.

Mason was like the the beginning and on and off last year. Murray used to get like that at times and think just a bit before passing. Usually resulting in an overthrow.

Rushing out of pockets that aren't collapsing and keying on a single target each time, is just bad QB play.

I don't know what the answer for him personally is.

My guess is he performs better in practice without the pressure.

I don't think yanking them back and forth is gonna make it any better.

He just needs to step up and not worry as much about the possible mistakes. Hopefully, some proper play calling can help him with that.

Ah....Eason...the great Bulldog messiah that will lead us to the promised land as a true freshman...

the guy is 18 yrs old and his highlight reel is against HS defenses just like every other recruit we ever have...they all look like world beaters in those videos...lets see what he can do when he actually gets on campus and has a true competition against guys that have time in both college and in the system....not saying he wont be a bulldog great after all is said and done but this nonsense about him being the only "real deal" qb on roster as soon as he gets to Athens is laughable...

Has anyone actually seen Bauta run against D1 competition in real life or have we just repeated "he's a great runner" so many times we just buy it?

During the G Day game all I saw him do was bump into our OLinemen a lot and look confused.

That QB ffor UVA had 5 INTs in 4 games last season and threw for 54%. Not Lambert, but Johns. Lambert beat him out. What you are seeing is most likely UVA having a better offense than last year.
