Sith seem to be bound to mortal existence only.
I'm going to hold on to Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma until Kathleen Kennedy comes to me personally and tells me to quit it. Because of this, I'm keeping Sith ghosts on the table.
That said, the probability of Snoke being his own entity and physically present somewhere is the most likely scenario, I'll agree.
The larger question about Snoke is how is he connected to the Dark Side, and specifically Vader? Also of note, it would appear that there's a significant difference between being a Sith Lord and simply being a Dark Jedi. The Dark Jedi learning curve has to be considerably easier than a full-on, practicing Sith.

Episode 1 sucked so bad that I didn't even go see 2 or 3.
Which I feel could be an advantage in terms of interpreting/appreciating this latest one.

So does anyone know who the old guy was in the beginning? I'm assuming that's going to be a key plot question that'll be answered in the next few movies, but wasn't sure.

In the absence of Mara Jade, I'll agree.
Personally, I wonder if Rey's untapped Force ability doesn't make her more susceptible to turning to the Dark Side than Ren. Wouldn't that be some shite, if Ren had to be the one to convince Rey to come back to the light?

Lor San Tekka, it would seem. Since he's connected to Leia somehow, I imagine that's an Episode VIII/IX thing to tackle, if it's not a total Maguffin simply to establish/advance the initial TFA plot

A quick Goolge search would seem to confirm Rey as Luke's daughter with Mara Jade (though seems to be spelled "Ray").
Hmmmm....

Winks and nods???:
I'm realizing I'm not as big a star wars nerd as others. Did you people pick up on any winks and nods to the original in addition to these?....
-the Millenium falcon chess board thing was accidentally turned in
-the black dude randomly found the ball shaped Jedi trainer thing that would shock Luke while training blind-folded
-trash compactor reference

Entertainment Weekly's list of ANH/TFA parallels. all of which I'm okay with. For the folks who are super-butthurt about TFA being "a lame remake of the 1977 movie," I submit Joseph Campbell's work in the history of Myth that goes into there only being one original story framework in th course of human history and it pops up in one of 5 flavors.

It is the same structure. But far from a 'remake' or 'lame'.
The original Star Wars is one of the most simple stories ever told.
That's why it worked. And also why the last three piles of shite did not.

Agreed. No one called ANH a lame remake of Kurasowa's Hidden Fortress. I honestly don't think the folks go are shitting on the movie know what they needed to see from the film to have enjoyed it. frick 'em. I plan on taking every available opportunity to catch it on the big screen.

Solo was getting old as dirt. Surprised he didn't use a stunt double for the scenes he was running. He had to go out at some point to make way for rhe new generation. I'm good with how it happened.

He asked to get killed off in the original trilogy. I'm surprised he came back to do this one at all.

The movie was way too derivative, from beginning to end. It was basically the exact same story as the first one.
Did not like.

Just to touch on Snoke being darth plagieus, one theory I read was that he was able to manipulate sidius into believing that he had killed him, when in reality he was not dead. I tend to go towards this theory. It also helps explain why he is depicted as being so large, as in the EU plaguies is depicted as a race who is 12 feet tall and has the ability to project image extremely well.
