With about 6 minutes left on 4th and 5, Georgia had the ball on Tennessee's 38 yard line.

Georgia had Tennessee on their heels. I would have given Georgia a 60% chance of converting. The Dawgs would have had a good chance of going up by 2 scores with probably less than 5 minutes to play.

I was shocked when Kirby decided to punt the ball. The ball went into the end zone and on Tennessee's first play, they gained 18 yards and were on the 38 anyway.

I call this a loser decision. He was coaching like a loser. When you are playing the #11 team in the country and beating them, you coach aggressively and put your foot on their throat. Kirby had a chance to do this and didn't. Instead, he decided to play defense, even though his defense is next to useless.

We are stuck with yet another coach who can't win a big game.

Georgia will always be a 2nd tier football program. It's just a tradition.

Ya its totally Kirby's fault that we got out jumped for a hail mary and one guy took his helmet off on a celebration penalty.

We won that game...they stole it away from us at the end. If you didn't like the improvement you saw from this team this week then maybe its time to take a break from UGA football

i like Kirby and am excited for our future but I kinda agree. Punting inside the 40 is absolutely idiotic.

With 19 seconds to go in the game, we got a procedure penalty. Kirby elected to use our last time out instead of a 10 second run off. If he let the clock run down to 9 seconds we would have won the game on our last TD.
Bad Call?

Nope. Right call that didn't turn out right. Rico McGraw strutting out on the field without his helmet was a bad call.

You can like someone and disagree with one or more of their decisions. I'm not a blind follower of anyone in my life, let alone a football coach. This is such an antiquated fan belief that it's insane.

Bad decision to punt. There will be many more decisions I disagree with throughout his tenure, no matter what happens.

I did not like the decision to punt there. Go for it. Too bad we don't have a kicker that can hit a 55 harder.

I agreed with punt. Play field position. Get used to because he will be conservative just like Saban.

We needed to keep the ball away from ut. Punting doesn't do that. 18 yards isn't enough yardage.

Obviously they wanted to pin them inside the 10. Didn't work out.

Yes, it is Kirby's fault that they made 2 undisciplined mistakes to set up the Hail Mary, then had all 11 men out of position on the Hail Mary play itself.

It is the coach's responsibility.

Trust your qb, not your punt team. Punts inside the ten are rare. 1st down passes aren't.

You don't give a Tennessee offense that was rolling our defense the ball at the 40 yard line. 4th and 5 isn't good odds.

Just blame the loss on the two stupid penalties instead looking a reason to scapegoat the coach. UGA wins if our players maintain their composure...they didn't.

Richt wasn't a loser, but it was clear he was never going to get UGA to the next level so he needed to go. He went 10 years without a conference championship and choked the East away as the favorite for 3 straight seasons.

I have no problem with people criticizing Smart, but any one proclaiming him a failure already is an idiot.

He was playing with a lead and lack of confidence in the field goal kickers.

The punter kicked a good kick that should have been downed inside the 5.

The penalty was also bad execution. That put them on 25.

They went 6 plays and properly executed a punt and pinned us deep (supporting the fumble to recovery).

This was just bad special teams play and lack of a kicker.

Anybody who says the chances of converting 4th and 5 at the 38 aren't good odds is an idiot, especially with Eason, Michel, Nauta, Blazevich, and Mackenzie on offense. and especially this late in the game.

And if Tennessee was rolling us on defense, the difference between the 38 and the 20 is nil.

Anyone who didn't think punting inside the 40 on 4th and short was a bad call doesn't understand math.......odds are almost certain that the ball is coming out to the 20 yard line.....in this case a difference of about 15 yards .....but the upside is that you pick up the first down and maintain possession. This call didn't cost us the game.....we lost because UT was better on one play.......but unless you have a proven punter who is consistent in pinning teams inside the 5 punting on 4th and short inside the 40 is waaaayyyyy to conservative for me anyway.....
