It's easier to catch a 5 yard pass than it is to kick inside the 10, and the benefits of keeping the ball are bigger than giving them the ball inside the 10.

The way our WRs drop passes? I'm not so sure!

However, I am thinking Ridley just might be the piece we've been missing. Ridley, McKenzie and Godwin could possibly be the right combination to get Eason kick started and showing big strides. I'm hoping so, anyway.

I still think Smart made the right decision, though.

To like that decision requires a preference for passivity. I prefer aggression.

Actually for me....it depends on the situation. Playing at home, winning, our defense showing some life....I kick it and hopefully bottle them up and play for field position. Try to stop them and put points on the board while drawing the clock down.

If we were on the road, it's a totally different story. I go for it and try to put them away. I'm not saying your decision is wrong and mine is right. Just what i would do. You never know how any decision is going to ply out until the decision is made and the results are in.

You people are the reason UGA football is where it is today. When you people see mediocrity, you ease up from behind it and toss it's salad while giving it a vigorous reach around.

That is incredibly ironic coming from pathetic Richt worshippers like you, who defended his mediocrity for friggin' years and you still defend him while slamming Smart. You're a moron and one of the three worst posters on this board.

You know he wasn't a Richt supporter, right? He felt the same about Richt. he was ready for Richt to go for the same reason.

I am surprised at how many on here assume if you criticize Smart, it is because you were a Richt supporter.

I never liked Richt let alone worshipped him. I think you are just a very angry person and are upset and lashing out at a UGA grad due to your own internal issues. If you stick around, you will see that I am spot on... You'll see...

I think the loss is ultimately on Kirby because he failed to put defenders in the right position to defend the hail Mary. If a coach decides to only rush three he must put the pass defenders no deeper than the goal line. Our men were close to the end line in no position to defend.

The penalties gave the Vols a slight chance of a win. The poorly designed defensive play was the killer. Kirby was right to criticize undisciplined play for the penalties but he should reserve some criticism for himself.

Don't get me wrong. I strongly prefer Kirby over Richt but Kirby will have to grow into his position.

With about 6 minutes left on 4th and 5, Georgia had the ball on Tennessee's 38 yard line.

And two kickers who couldn't hit water if they were kicking off an oil rig in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. That was the critical factor there.

Granted their punter is at least average and ours has been the worst punter in the SEC through 5 games but UT made the exact same decision and it worked out for them.

I don't think arguing that this decision is what cost the game is fair, easy to argue decisions after seeing the result.

4 and 5 in that situation is in the high 30% conversion rate.

That's still pretty close to playing Russian roulette with 4 in the cylinder. Unfortunately, all the options were pretty bad in that situation.

Uga has gotten 7 out of 15 1st downs on 3rd down with 4-6 yards to go so far this year.

Doesn't change the fact that statistically, it's only a 30-odd percent chance. The fact that we've beaten the odds in a relatively small sample size does not mean that the pattern will hold.

I think how good you are at something should be considered in decision making. At the very least, the odds of a first down are better than the odds of a punt inside the ten.

4th and 5.

Just spitballing here, but what about having Ramsey go in and pooch punt from shotgun? I don't remember UT's TOs at that point but if they recognized Ramsey as the punting QB they'd at least waste a TO. If they didn't stop the play, Ramsey pooch punts for no return.

The unsportsmanlike penalty was pretty lame on the part of the refs considering the circumstances. I mean, come on man, the fking play was over and Dawgs were just celebrating a great football play with seconds to spare. What a shitty game-changing call.

Agree, and you can blame that on the absolute tards we had for refs.

Look, I'm not a "blame the refs for the loss" kinda guy. And I'm not blaming them. And I know the opposing viewpoint is "that's the rule and it's been the rule for years, so these guys shoudl no better". And I normally agree! But I think that rule is like zero tolerance rules in school...they are there for a reason and applicable MOST of the time but we have to exercise some common sense. A kid chewing a piece of white bread at lunch into the shape of a weapon shouldn't be suspended, yet that happens these days. The helmet off rule should apply for people taking their helmet off on the field (stupid) or people on teh bench running out to join a fight/scuffle (stupid). A dude on the bench running to the endzone to celebrate with his teammates for scoring shouldn't be penalized. It's not a harm to himself or others and it doesn't frick with the spirit of the game. Yet we very well may have lost because of it. It's sickening.

Don't think they called it on ut when they had bench guys on the field.
