Pretty neat seeing a guy from Tift get hired. I met my wife in Tift county 13 years ago.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Rumph just leave for Texas? Why would he change again to come to UGA?

He kind of got pushed out at Alabama, it seems like. Maybe he'll want to coach closer to home (South Carolina)

Buddy in FSU program says that Pruitt will be hellbent on coaching DBs as Pruitt said in the presser. Not really an update, but some sites last night were speculating after Wilson and O left that he may coach elsewhere. Buddy said he'd be surprised if he did, but he may bring another DB coach on and choose to fill out his staff with a CB coach, S coach, LB coach, and DL coach.
He also said that it's business as usual in Tallahassee right now in the football offices, so that tells me either Sunseri or Kelly is angling for the FSU DC job. He said he wouldn't be surprised if we got the other.

How about seeing if Warren Belin wants to come back. He was at Wake Forest last year after getting screwed by the Panthers....
He might be just waiting on another NFL job tho...

I'd love for Belin to come back for LB's. Losing Wilson hurts on the DL but hopefully we can find a good replacement.
Really tough to replace as good of a coach/recruiter combo as he was, though.

Yeah, but he was a great special teams guy when he was here, which I think is extremely important to consider

Special teams are important for sure. I just think a change that you'll see stressed with Pruitt is that everyone he hires will have certain expertise as a recruiter. He's from the Saban school of coaching that really stresses talent acquisition as paramount.
I also think it's unlikely that Pruitt knows Belin, making the hire unlikely.

We don't need to go backwards, if sunseri doesn't get DC at FSU he will be at UGA, and like the Summers hire, if we can lock down South Georgia we will be doing our thing. Now if we can get a guy to lock Atlanta up, all will be well. We finally have a defensive recruiter who can pull in top defensive talent, Garner was good, but he brought in guys for both sides of the ball. I want us to get real nasty on D, cause the O is fine, Bobo and Bmac will make sure we keep talent there. Just need to Oline to shine, Pruitt needs to light a fire under Friends arse.

I more or less agree, although I don't think we'll ever be able to totally lock down Atlanta. I don't think it's possible. BMac is as good a recruiter as anybody there. Pruitt should also be good there and I would assume at least one of the new hires will have some history recruiting in ATL. I do think we could do better in Gwinnett. It's a gold mine.
I think the key for us, like you said, is to lock down South Georgia, and I think we can do that or at least get close. After that, try to hold serve with our major targets in Atlanta and West Georgia, where the influence of other major programs is stronger.
