The school system is at fault here. This is what happens when every single school requires their kids be picked up at noon. And ATL city schools typically call off class when the wind blows the wrong way, so I have no idea why they decided school should be in session yesterday. Who are the dumbfricks running this operation?

Daughter that teaches in Stone Mtn got a call at 10:00 am from hubby that he had an accident and was at ER so she left school to pick him up. He was OK so on the way home the snow started so they picked up the grandson at school early and got home by 2:00 pm.
Daughter that works downtown saw the snow and said to hell with it and left early and made it home. Her hubby was stuck in Ball Ground and still isn't home as of this morning. He and about 30 others spent the night at a Waffle House. Thank goodness for the life saving properties of hash browns scattered, covered, and smothered.

School busses filled with children stuck on the road all night is inexcusable.

Listen to the yuppie sheep of suburban Atlanta. And notice, not only the dependence they have on their central planners...... but also the naive faith they have in them to be able to save them from everything.............

This is unbelievable to me.

live and work in Gwinnett County and had no problem getting home because we planned ahead a little bit and left work around 1:00pm yesterday. Too many folks want to live in NE suburbs where the schools are pretty good, but work all over the metro area and they are the ones stuck...Atlanta as a "planned" region is a total nightmare..and the choices of many families contributed to this quagmire.

Atlanta, GA: Potential Death Trap?................

That's like pretty much any major city.

This has been repeated several times in this thread.....

But, isn't this just a rationalization on your part?.... where you're trying to convince yourself that it's okay and everything is alright because other people in other cities are in the same boat?

Tell me. How do other city's situations have any effect on the unnatural and potentially dangerous situation that atlantans find themselves stuck in?

I couldn't agree more...

When you consider the waste and corruption that people have grown accustomed to ignoring I bet everyone blames everyone else and nothing will happen.

The Superbowl will take precedent and everyone will forget.

Let me ask you this Thomassssss, How much more rock salt do you think would have prevented the noon clusterfrick in Atlanta today? 100 tons? 500 tons? How many more snow plows did they need to scrape 3/4 of an inch of snow off the roads, that would have prevented the noon clusterfrick in Atlanta today? 10? 40? 100? Bitch please.

well considering cars couldn't move because of ICE, I think pre-treating the road would have helped a lot dumbass. would traffic still sucked? yes. would people still have been stranded? yes. eat a dick.

There's a lot of value in living close to where you work. Unfortunately that can't always happen.

The DOT Commissioner said they pretreated the roads, but the heavy midday traffic pushed most of it to the shoulders. He said the biggest problem was tractor trailers jack knifed and the inability to get to these accidents due to traffic that seemed to exit at precisely the same time.

I don't see how Kasim Reed is to blame. He cant do anything about bad decisions made on behalf of all of the suburban leaders.

This is a great plan and as a bonus, could have led to the best possible scenario in a trapped in the snow situation.

Would everyone have taken this advice? No. But I can guarantee you that we don't have the problems we're currently having.

Grantham should have told JHC and Trigga to bat the ball down on 4th, but instead JHC and Trigga batted the ball up. Fire Grantham.

Just a question: Did the GDOT not try to implement air rescue for the Children? If not... they should all be fired.

He is the mayor, this was not handled well. How is he absolved of any responsibility?

I am in Gwinnett and things aren't that bad out here, not sure what suburban leaders you are talking about, Atlanta surface streets are still a disaster and they are the first ones that start getting cleared in the whole damn state.

Keep in mind though, he is a horrible, piece of shite, corrupt, criminal, worthless imbecile of a sham of a mayor. I will absolutely pile anything negative I can on him. He makes Bill Campbell look as pure as the driven snow in comparison. When he got reelected, my faith (what little bit there was) in Atlanta residents disappeared completely.
