It is a state pride issue. It isn't hypocritical.
If outsiders ally with you, that's acceptable. When one of your own goes to work for the enemy, it is unacceptable. This is true at pretty much any level of anything, where regional/state/national pride is concerned.

I never stated that one should not be disappointed that an in-state prospect would leave. I just don't get some folks' stance that said prospect should be shunned for life.

I think what most people believe is that many La. people aren't going to be buying insurance from him if he's a wash out in the NFL

LSU getting Corey Thompson tells me its over.
That was the spot for Collins if he decided to switch.
Best of luck to him and I really hope he puts aside all the outside stuff and focuses on football because thats the only way he will be successful.
Time to move on.
The only good thing about losing Collins is that LA never lacks for DB's. I compare losing Collins to LSU losing Janzen Jackson to Tenn a few years back. That position is easy to recruit to. LSU lost Peterson last year to the draft and didn't miss a beat.

I am from La. and a huge Bama fan. I have seen the way this state has acted towards Collins decision and it disgust me. When people ask me why I don't care for LSU, I wish i could bottle up the last 4 weeks and open it. I think that if Collins signs, this might be the best recruiting job Nick Saban has ever done. It has also impressed me so much how Bama fans have handled themselves with the families comments despite what i have seen LSU fans do to try and keep him. No matter how it ends up tomorrow with Collins, we have a lot to be proud of. RTR

So first the mom says "All those accusations are a lie. He's not following a girl, WE fell in love with Alabama on our first visit 2 years ago." Then she calls Alabama sneaky and conniving for trying to use this girl to entice her son? She sounds bi-polar.
She says her son broke off an 8 year relationship? When he was 18? So he started dating his former girlfriend at the age of 10?
And she didn't want the girlfriend's mom involved in his recruiting, that was "disrespectful." So she really expected his girlfriend's mom shouldn't talk to him about her personal knowledge of Saban? I'm willing to bet, he probably asked her. I know I would have in his situation.
Everything about this woman screams irrational drama. I don't want to call her names, I just feel sorry for Landon because that's his mom and I think she is going to be a struggle for him his entire life.
