My lord. What does the population of either have to do with anything?

My wife and I both work and live in Oxford, as do many of my friends who went to school here. We went to Jackson after ole miss for grad school and came back. It was very simple. I guess they can "need industry", but we aren't going to work in a factory...

How are you still going in this thread

Dude. Give it up. Not even a state fan with half a brain would argue this. You should give it up. Gainesville a good college town? Never heard that before. That place suckkkkkks too. College station???? Maybe you like shite towns. Who knows.

Your wife is a lawyer and you sell real estate. I'm talking about industry that can support a lot of people coming back and getting jobs. A town can only have so many lawyers or real estate agents. A very small percentage return to MS college towns to work. A lot retire there, but not many live there through the working years of life.

Why would you down play factories of any type? You don't get many quality jobs without lower paying ones to support them. They present a need for more doctors, engineers, upper management, etc... Which then means you need more real estate agents to sell them homes and lawyers to handle their estates. Mississippi needs more good lower class jobs, you don't grow the middle and upper class without that foundation.

That doesn't mean they have to be in Oxford or Starkville. My point is just that North MS as a whole needs more industry.

This is relevant because it's how you improve a town, and in this case a region. Fun college towns aren't great because of the students alone. Our schools have like 20k, give or take, on campus. Even if they doubled to 40k students, that isn't enough to need a ton of good bars and venues. You need quality jobs in the extended area to support attractions in the town.

How long has Dan coached at State? I would hope after seven years he would manage to have someone in the league. Glad to see that not everyone has washed out at State.

Per our weekly War Room, he has official visits scheduled to Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and State. He has an unofficial (already taken the official visit) scheduled with TN.

Simmons was a monster today. He could wind up with a fifth star.

It's between OM, State & Bama.

Mostly a in-state battle.

Demetric Warren CB'ed him to Bama today. Lots of talk from people around the All-Star game of both Bama and OM.

Then again, whether he likes Bama now or not, I'm sure the black horse will ride through at midnight, much like at the Tony Connor house on Signing Day 2013.

Hopes up for AJ Brown. Not so much for Simmons.

Just like Dequan Menzie, Brandon Hill, Jarran Reed, etc were persuaded to join the tide we just don't work with the same resources

Connor called the Bama staff (not the other way around) and committed on Signing Day Eve evening about 8:00 PM. Said he would sign with Bama. Had given every indication throughout the process that he was leaning to UA (at least to our staff and many around him). Around midnight (literally), Connor's house was paid a visit.

As Lavarus Giles' mom famously said: "Deys millionaires in da house!". I'm sure this isn't the only place this happens, nor the only recruit. But in this case, people weren't very careful on who they told.

For all I know, Simmons might WANT to go to OM. But I hope it doesn't become an all-out nasty bidding war to the well-known, famous level that Chris Jones was.

No he didn't. Drew knows the real story. Vonn Bell went to Ohio state and that's when Alabama went all in.

Boy, you couldn't be more wrong. Bama was ALL IN on Connor, and the reason why Bell ended up at OSU. At the time, a LOT of Bama fans were hoping we wouldn't go ALL IN on someone from the state of MS and turn down a player that looked as good on tape as Bell. We recruited Bell just enough to keep him interested and never gave him the offer that he could commit (in fairness, it was thought he would still not be an easy signing with UT in the mix that he liked a lot even if we would have taken him). It was a misevaluation by Saban. It happens. But you couldn't be more wrong on Connor. Of this, I am almost as certain as if I were witnessing it with my own eyes.

What I'm saying is an absolute fact verified MANY places. Whether you want to believe it or not, he did, IN FACT, call the Bama staff and tell the coaches he was signing with UA. Whether you choose to believe some fluff-feelgood stuff about him always wanting OM and never wavering or not is up to you.
