Like everybody, they will be great, good, so-so and have losing seasons at some point. Football is as cyclical as the seasons. Just a few short years ago A&M got run by 77 to OU. Who would be considered the stronger program now though?
Exactly, they will be top tier and have years where they struggle to go bowling. Just like everyone. Anybody remember a team called the Miami Hurricanes? Maybe the strongest program football ever saw. Now, well you know. It's cyclical.

I believe I stated in my posts that A&M is recruiting well now but must add the depth AND KEEP depth year after year just to be in the discussion. Some of your comments imply A&M thinks nobody else is recruiting well etc... No A&M is not at the every year being in hunt. My question is can they be.

When Texas comes back - and they will - that is where we see if A&M keeps the DL that would have gone to OU.

I think it is looking good for A&M even post Sumlin because of investment in new stadium and SEC. I think the old RC cronie mentality of being happy with mediocrity will be gone and a&M will pay for a big coach. It will be a very desirable job.

Again A&M has a long way to go to replace NFL guys all over the D YEAR after YEAR after YEAR. and having fresh come in a PLAY when needed. Without having an excuse such as - well we are young. You better win young if you wanna be with the top sec.

So Im asking for opinions - Some of you act like you dont read the thread.

Oh - and Allen is the #1 Pro Style QB in the Nation according to rivals. This is the Highest A&M has ever recruited a QB. The bigger message here is A&M has never been a National Recruiter. We dont go get a QB looking at the Irish coming off a NC game in need of a qb. Kids outside Texas will want to play with this type guy. It changes things in my opinion.

I don't know if nationally this makes an impact. In Arizona itself there is a possibility of a large impact. There is a decent chance that A&M pulls in as many as 4 of the best players in Arizona this year and we are also recruiting a couple of the top prospects in the state for 2015.

I remember NU as a power in 70's through 90's. Now they are a solid 9-3 club with little chance of a CC and no chance of an NC. And nothing on the horizon suggesting that's going to change soon.

A&M is a perennial top 10 team now? When did that happen? Outside of last season, the last time they finished in the AP Top 10 was 1994.
It doesn't take a genius to see which football programs are the major contenders in the SEC. Obviously it takes both talent and coaching, and TAM has both.

The states with the deepest talent pools are all the biggest contenders in the SEC: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina is on the edge some years.

With the smaller states like LA, AL, and SC, the recruiting program and coaching staff is very important. Saban recruits on a national level and gets the lion's share of in-state talent, LSU gets 70% to 80% of the blue-chip talent and recruits on a national level; Spurrier has built the cocks into a top-15 program every year.

In regard to the SEC, only Florida has as much in-state talent as Texas.

Last year TAM hit the trifecta by entering the SEC, beating Alabama, and winning the Cotton Bowl with their own Heisman Trophy Winner.

Now they are bringing in a top-10 and maybe top-6 recruiting class this year.

It doesn't matter if you realize it or not, TAM is here to stay--big time!

If Texas can't do it in the Big12, I don't see A&M doing it in the SEC.

Whatever.....I know the Ags are excited as they should be....things are looking up for them....but 10-2 and a Cotton Bowl victory would be a disappointment at Bama.

Tell me about it. We finished 10-3 last year and people are already jumping off the ship.

Are you saying Texas High School Football is not good enough to compete in the Big-12 or the SEC?

The third leg of TAM's trifecta included a daily double.

Nevertheless, TAM hit the jackpot no matter how you look at it.

If not for the SEC schedulers blindsiding the Aggies with Florida for their first game of the season last year, TAM might very well have won the SEC and BCS C.G.

With the Bridge Schedule, the SEC gave Bama their own private bouncer against TAM in the form of the Florida Gators.

This year, LSU gets both of the SEC bouncers from the East in Georgia and Florida.

As a result, LSU's schedule has preseason #2 Alabama, #6 TAM, #7 Georgia, and #11 Florida according to ESPN.

You just have to wonder what the SEC Administrative Office has against LSU.

Ohio St. is #1 baby!

I am expecting a battle of unbeaten titans--Ohio St. vs Louisville--for the crystal ball this season.

10-2 would be bad for Bama considering your schedule especially. But for A&M it is different. 10-2 is a big deal. Winning at Bama is a big deal. Absolutely dismantling OU (huge future recruiting rival), winning a Heisman is a big deal.

People say 5th in SEC fine. Also 5th in Nation. That is a good year for I guess any team but Bama.

Texas never got it done because Mack Brown can recruit but cant coach - and the culture is soft. The talent he had if they SEC S&C coaches and drive could have done damage.

Texas has plenty of talent. Sumlin will get his. The D is rolling in. If the D gets tight over in College Station - its gonna be a hair cut for any team to come play in front of 103,000

There is a long way to go however. I think the various guesses on the next 10 years on this board will be fun to watch play out.

It was last year... A&M was a top 5 team in 2012. LSU wasn't in the top 10. A lesser team beating a superior team is an upset...

in 10 years aTm will be middle of the pack in the SEC. Their fanbase will constantly remind themselves and anybody in shouting distance how good they were their first year in the league and that they still have so much potential. Nobody will care.

Keep telling yourself that. Ignorance is bliss.

You act like Alabama and LSU always have the greatest QB's. Until Aj it was a long time before we had a highly touted QB. Maybe Brodie, but come on man, one 4/5 star QB recruit does not put you up there with the big boys, yet.
