A&M is a perennial top 10 team now? When did that happen? Outside of last season, the last time they finished in the AP Top 10 was 1994.

This is true. Up until last year, the last time A&M finished in the top 5 was 1957, right before Bear Bryant left for Alabama.

I see a lot of posters in denial, saying things such as "if Sumlin stays that long"

How is saying Sumlin may not be the coach at aTm for too much longer denial? Sumlin seems like the kind of coach who'll want to test his mettle in the NFL sooner rather than later. I know he's setup nice in College station right now but doesn't stop coaches who want to be in the league. (See Nick Saban, Spurrier, Chip Kelly, etc.)

Sumlin may very well head to the NFL, but he might want to win something in the NCAA first. So far, he hasn't done squat in terms of championships. It will be a few years before he is ready to make a move. Absent some major down turn at A&M, he will not likely leave for another college team. I think A&M will get into a bidding war with anyone and everyone.

#1 Pro QB from the West Coast

Looks like Coach Sumlin wants to run his Houston offense after JFF quits running around.

I agree with this. The only place he is going is the NFL, but you never know when a college coach is going to make the leap. I never would have though Chip Kelly would bolt from Oregon for the NFL unless they were in serious trouble, but he did. I think Sumlin is a great coach and his style translates well into the NFL.

Because you get one top recruit?

The big boys in the SEC have been doing this for awhile now. Congrats.

Jobu. There will never be another Johnny. They offense isnt designed for Johnny - it just adapted. Gaining the best Pro Style QB in the nation over ND, tOSU et al... That is huge. A&M will need to recruit and play SEC ball ultimately. Scramblers usually get arse pounded in SEC. JFF is just a freak of nature.

Heard this same thing about Cam, Tebow, yadda yadda, so when will there really never be another?

Pick another if you'd like. Doesn't matter. TAMU stacked.

The new Aggie QB is the highest QB A&M has ever recruited.

He's a 4 star, #27 in the nation.

Reggie McNeal was a 5-star #5 in the nation.

So is half of the SEC...just like every year. Hell even AU got a Top 10 class and the #2 player in the country after the worst season in the programs history.

Okay? The argument was against the "one recruit" comment. So I'm not sure what you're arguing.

Having the #1 class per rivals and scout kind of kills that claim does it now?

Not arguing...just that you used Scout.

Good job on the recruiting...got to do it every year though.

7 SEC teams make up the Top 17 on the 24/7 composite ranking as of June 4th.

We'll see. Nobody can really touch our average star ranking - it's not as if we have that ranking because we have a ton of numbers. Either way, love the way Sumlin is assembling the class. Lot of defenders in 2014. We need help there - especially in the trenches.
