The biggest detriment to aTm is Texas. If Texas fires Brown soon and hires a dynamic coach that can recruit and win aTm will take a big hit. For the most part Texas has owned the state. aTm will still be one of the better sec programs but not elite on a yearly basis. aTm needs Texas to drag their feet on removing Brown.

This^^^

Bama has pulled in the consensus #1 recruiting class every year since 2008...with the exception of one which was ranked 5th,....LSU has been neck and neck with them.....

Aggie has a long way to go

I think the state of Texas can support 2 power programs. What really hurt TAMU, even more than Texas, was OU. When OU started recruiting extremely mainly - and did it by taking Texas guys - TAMU suffered. But even in the crap years of Fran TAMU would pull top 15 or so classes. Now I realize that won't be good enough in the SEC, but the point is that TAMU has always recruited okay and the big problem was more OU than Texas.

I think Texas will always get theirs. In fact, they are getting theirs now. They have a top 5-10 class right now. The SEC move killed OU more than it did Texas. That is the difference imo.

Just what I was thinking when I saw Sumlin wanted the #1 Pro QB. Interesting

It's more like there isn't another JFF in this QB class.

As long as we have Sumlin, and the SEC remains the focus of college football, it will be very hard for them to accomplish that. Look at their home schedule. When are they supposed to impress recruits? I mean seriously, it is a tall task ahead of them.

All I am saying is there isn't a consensus on who is the top pro style QB, both of them are going to be good.

Olé Miss is the only game that would excite me, I hope the Rebs can get it done.

What A&M is doing right now, which they consider so excellent and outstanding, is what four or five teams do in the SEC every single season, year-in and year-out.

What A&M fans have yet to understand is that you have to do it every single year in order to compete in the SEC, not just one. And there are always beat-downs along the way.

Yeah we get it, A&M is one of those 4/5 teams now. USCe isn't and never has been, understand?

We got 11 wins, and an LSU upset away from playing for the natty while not recruiting well, now we have the number one class in the nation. The possibilities are endless.

in 10 years aTm will be middle of the pack in the SEC.

Their fanbase will constantly remind themselves and anybody in shouting distance how good they were their first year in the league and that they still have so much potential.

Nobody will care.
