Why don't you look to whom I was responding? And when I said Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia were similar, it can be logically inferred, from the OP, that I was saying... Ole Miss is like Georgia, and Alabama is like Georgia.

Ummmm, no and no. There is nothing logical about it.

But I get what you are trying to do. You're trying to infer that Tuscaloosa enjoys a reputation of being a great college village-type atmosphere as does Athens and Oxford. Yet that is not the case and, honestly, if you were strictly adhering to similar college towns the most obvious comparison is Columbia, SC to Tuscaloosa, AL. Auburn, maybe, maybe, might be the most logical small town comparative .... matter of fact, it goes back to my original contention, Auburn-Georgia.

Strictly comparing the towns in which the schools are situated has very little to do with my original post ... so, again, therefore there was zero logic used, none whatsoever, in either of your premises.

Found out that we got our colors from UVA...so Clemson basically got UVAs left overs as well.

What, you didn't believe it when we Gamecock fans tried telling you the same thing?

All you are going to hear is a bunch of whining about why they are not in the SEC and a bunch of chest thumping about how they are as good as any team in the SEC and yada yada yada.

FWIW anyone that claims the taterhead's tailgating to be "SEC worthy" is also nuts. I know Clemson fans who even admit it is not when compared to SEC teams.

Well, would you take Georgia fans at their word when describing Georgia Tech fans?

Yea, I figured this and I'm not all excited about hearing that bs. Luckily we have the recent victories, a better decade, and a commanding lead in the series so I look forward to it nonetheless.

I am envious that they are allowed to leave and retox at halftime, and come back in. I wish AU let you do that.

In terms of football programs, UGA's is obviously Auburn.

Culturally, I would agree with above posters that UGA, Alabama, and Ole Miss are the most similar. That mostly applies to the student body. That obviously doesn't mean they are exactly alike.

The town and culture of Auburn don't really put off the same vibe to me as Athens. Pretty different actually. The two schools enjoy a very healthy football rivalry, but I think UGA has more in common with other schools in non-football aspects.

Athens is like twice Auburn size and could sustain without the school.

Auburn with out the school is just a one exit nothing.

Another 20 or so years, and I don't think this will be the case. The rapidness with which it has grown in the last 10-15 years is crazy.

I believe that last year Auburn was one of the 15 fastest growing cities in the US (with a population over 50,000).

Great to see Auburn doing so well economically, but I worry that it will change the character of the place which was one of the things I loved about going to school there. There is a huge difference in the feel of a college town (Auburn, Fayetteville) and mid-size city with a big college (Columbia, Baton Rouge), and a major city (Nashville).
