Alabama, Ole Miss, and Georgia are the most similar schools to one another.
I'm sorry but this is ridiculous.
Georgia has nothing in common with OM or Bama and that is a good thing. If anything, the only similar school that is in Georgia's league is SC based on the fact that they seem to be the oldest schools in the SEC as they are both origional colony schools. Without even looking it up I will assume that they were both founded around the 1760's. That gives them a more Ivy League feel.

Have you even been to an Ivy League campus? Or Alabama, Ole Miss, and Georgia for that matter? All three hold closer to the Greek Revival tradition than any other campuses in the SEC. Not to mention the "Old South-ness"

That holds true to every fricking SEC school campus I have been to and I have seen them all minus Mizzou and aTm. I will agree that UF and LSU have more of a Spanish influence in their architecture. But examples of Greek Revival architecture can be found on just about every college campus in the entire US.

But not as uniformly as Ole Miss, Alabama, and Georgia.

Well not everyone wants to be associated with massah's house. Have you ever been to Columbia, SC?

None of those schools have buildings from the 1760s. What's your point? :saidpolitely:

USC in the sense that they have great fans and love baseball as much as they love football
UGA in the sense that they are a great program with some recent down times

Tradition maintains that UGA's oldest permanent building, Old College, is modeled on Yale University’s Connecticut Hall
That's my point
quote:
At the beginning of South Carolina College, a basic ground plan was approved that resembled the Yale University dormitory design, which grouped suites into a single tenement, thus subdividing the students into socially cohesive groups. This plan was introduced into Rutledge and duplicated in DeSaussure, Pinckney, Elliott, Harper, and Legare colleges.
And this is my point
Both campuses employ a lot more of the Federal style of architecture associated with colonial times than the architecture influence of prebellum and antibellum Greek Revival architecture. Or in laymens terms, both campuses feel much older and established then others I have been to. I will agree that Om and UA's architecture are similar but that is probably because OM copied it
Greek Revival
Which is interestingly a synagogue, sorry OM people.
Federal style
another form of Federal style that most would say is Greek Revival

No, Florida wasn't really shite until Spurrier. I would put UT as king of the East if we are talking overall history.

Purely athletic department perspective-UF. Both programs easily have are the SEC leaders in well rounded success whether you consider only big 2 college sports or big 3 college sports.
Considering everything is tough. LSU is unique in culture, large city placement etc. Poss. UGA? Located near the two most historically influential southern cities. Fairly well rounded athletics. Both the only SEC school in state. Football teams seem to cycle at the same time-met in SEC CG 3 times 2 times the winner played in the NC game. 2007 both teams had arguments to play in the NC.
Athens has a far better off campus college area than LSU though.

Lol, weird that the flaship university for South Carolina is ranked below Clemson in pretty much every academic ranking in the nation and has historically been dominated athletically.
That's weird for a "flagship" university.

And there it is ... the taterhead perspective. It was bound to happen sooner or later while we are still allowing taterhead trash around here.

I've sort of always considered LSU to be SC's kindred spirit from the West. We both appreciate long-legged, ample breasted women with pefect white teeth, silky hair, pretty smiles and cultured southern drawls. Old red wine and fine cigars. A deep seated love for football and baseball ... to the point where both of them are religious experiences. Night games. Seafood. Long walks on our beaches.
Who are you, Pat Conroy? Nice prose.

And yet we're still the University of South Carolina. Or USC. Or Carolina. Whichever you prefer. Located in the Capital city, largest college/university in the state, & better overall athletic department.
5 in a row is coming bitch. Oh and hope you had good time in Cola for the regional, clemson looked mighty good out there.
