And i think it has. That 2011 game was very therapeutic for our fans if you ask me. I know it was for me. Then this year I think kinda brought things back to what they used to be pre-Fairley. I'm with what one of the other dawg fans said earlier, I think there is some resentment for AU winning a title recently but I really think most of us will agree that the anger stems primarily from the Fairley shite.

I was tailgating that year, and I could feel more animosity even before the game than in years past. After the game, well you can imagine...

I agree. You could feel it and I felt like Auburn fans were well over it because they weren't even the ones that angry in the first place. Looking back I'm sure it must've been annoying for Auburn fans but those last 2 games did a lot to restore the friendliness in this rivalry. I mean, I'm not trying to over emphasize how mad people were after 2010 but... they were pretty mad after 2010

Then you had this year and I don't think I've been to a more amiable tailgate. AU fans had given up and Georgia fans had let go. And honestly I am glad, I like how this rivalry was. We have enough of the other shite with Florida and Georgia Tech.

I agree with everyone else about Auburn and Georgia. With the minor bumps in the road that have been mentioned it is a pretty amicable rivalry and the schools share a lot of similarities.

To step outside the conference, I think Clemson and Auburn are even more similar to each other. Each is the land grant university with strengths in engineering and ag. They are similar sizes (whereas UGA is about 10,000 larger than AU). They have the same mascot and almost the same colors. Similar campuses, etc. I have always thought of Clemson as a sibling, or at least a cousin.

I found their fans to be pretty obnoxious when we played them the last few years.

Clemson is Auburn w/ a lake. Their fanbases are very similar and roughly interchangeable here in Charleston.

Most of my UGA friends would not agree that UGA/Auburn are similar.

Really? I was at the game in Clemson and I thought they were quite friendly before, during, and after the game. In fact, I'd say they were one of the friendliest fan-bases I have come across.

Several Georgia fans have posted on here saying AU and UGA are similar.

Everyone has different experiences.

When CU and USCe played in Auburn on back to back weeks in 2010...i had never seen two different groups of fans.

CU fans were whiny and bitchy and USCe fans were laid back and cordial and easy to talk to.

Sounds like you had a bad experience w/ a few fans. That's too bad. Definitely some obnoxious folks in every school's fanbase.

But the point stands that the two schools are quite similar.

Oh, I've noticed. Just different experiences. Many of my UGA friends are the ATL kids who don't have much in common w/ the more good ol boy / small town AU student.

It's funny, a lot of people who move here (esp those w/ no prior exposure to the CU/USC rivalry like the OSU fans) grow to HATE Clemson fans and their team.

I hadn't had much experience w/ AU fans prior to moving here. A recent grad moved in w/ my gf and had a lot of her college friends in and out over the course of last year. They were always up for a good time.

But, AU fans do tend to hang out at the same bars as CU fans. And have similar values, goals, careers, etc.

This is what I'm basing my opinion off of as well. USC fans were really cool. Damn near every CU fan I saw was some snot nosed frat boy walking by making dumbass remarks.

A pretty good portion of AU students and alums are ATL kids. Come to Atlanta and you'll see more AU vanity tags than any other school besides UGA.

I can't stress this enough: CU fans are some of the worst in the country. And they're getting worse, b/c an inferiority complex is setting in w/r/t their ACC affiliation and they see themselves as every bit the equal of AU, UGA, etc. Hence, they talk incredible amts of shite to reassert themselves. They have some great fans, too, but those fans are overshadowed by some of their more obnoxious counterparts.

USC fans are generally pretty good. We were losers for so long that we're just genuinely happy to be winning. And we don't have any tradition or whatever to fall back on like Tennessee, etc so we rarely get into pissing matches.

I would call that a very fair and accurate portrayal of the two fanbases.

I loved my trip to Columbia in '11...and I almost got in a fight with a loudmouth USC fratboy after the game. He got his arse chewed out by an old alum and I got an apology...it was hilarious.

It looks to me that if your team wins, then the other teams fans were awesome and cool, but if you lost, the other team was whiny and bitchy and blah blah blah blah.

Butthurt will do that to you.

Georgia, because we both dodge strong teams from the other divisions like pro's. We're bitch-arse scheduling brothers.

LSU and USC can be brothers too because they love to bitch about us and UGA
