Interesting perspective I'd never really considered. Baton Rouge is obviously larger than Athens, but I think people do tend to underestimate the size of Athens, GA (roughly 110K non-college students).
I can see some of the other similarities (same proximity to New Orleans/Atlanta), similar football history, etc.
Obviously among southern states Louisiana is extremely unique and Baton Rouge seems a lot more industrial and obviously more of a legislative town than Athens, but I like your points about the similarities between LSU and UGA.
