It amazes me how much oxygen talking heads have spent talking about this possibility.

Finebaum burned some yesterday on this topic.

22% chance Ole Miss wins the conference. And given that "They Are Ole Miss", I'd say the real chances are much lower than that.

No the SEC will be left out if Ole Miss wins the conference.

No matter what happens this Saturday I see very little shot of them beating LSU.

13-0 Memphis would have a hell of an argument over Ole Miss though.

Memphis still has to play an undefeated Houston and a very good Temple team.

my guess is that the american teams will all hand each other one loss.

Yup. They value conference championships, quality wins and head-to-head the most. We would have the conference title, three quality wins (Florida, LSU and Alabama) and the head-to-head over Alabama. Also, Memphis may rank higher than Wisconsin at the end of the year. I think they would see it as a no-brainer given the criteria they value.

We always play very good against LSU, but I agree I am guessing LSU will win that game.

Any given satuday though.

If Memphis stays undefeated and Paxton Lynch is a Hiesman finalist, it will be interesting to see in that scenario whether the Playoff committee selects Memphis, or if that just makes Ole Miss' loss to them on the road look better and they send Ole Miss. Who at that point would have rematched and beaten Florida. Beaten Bama on the road, and beaten LSU.

But to answer your question, yes. An 11-2 SEC Champ Ole Miss goes before Bama goes. The better question is whether they get the nod over other teams.

Why do you think Notre Dame made it the NC game against Alabama when they clearly had no business being in that game.

They were undefeated? In fact, if Ohio State hadn't been suspended...they were undefeated too...and Alabama had no business being in the game.

SEC fans should embrace for the very real possibility that we get 0 teams in this season. Especially if Florida loses to Florida St.

Certainly. That would mean that they also beat LSU and Florida twice...it's definitely possible.

Barring some crazy events..I don't see much hope for Ole Miss getting in the playoff, if it wasn't Bama it would be some one else.

But that would mean Ole Miss won the SEC, beat LSU and the mighty Gators, as well as a couple of other toss-up games, that should plenty for you guys.

We can all dream
