Yes, Bowden would have been the better hire and that goes without saying. But, some people are implying Bill Curry is one of the worst coaches Alabama has had, which is far from true. Curry is one of the better ones Alabama has had since Bryant.

Man, its rare for me to find a Bama fan who feels the same way I do about Curry.

Definitely Spurrier at LSU
But with the way LSU athletics was managed at that time, Spurrier would have bolted for Fla very quick.

No doubt that choosing Mike Archer over Steve Spurrier was one of the worst mistakes college football history

Here's a way back. Not worst, but could have completely altered Mizzou history.

1956: Frank Broyles over Bob Devaney

Broyles lasted a year and bolted for Arky, and we got Dan Devine which brought great years, followed by his assistant Al Onofrio who could kill giants but lose to ants.

If we hired Devaney, same great years in the 60s, but also get Osborne to carry us in thru the 90s.

I've heard rumors that Saban wanted back at LSU after Miami but LSU chose to keep Miles rather than buy out his contract. Miles at least is a very fine coach in his own right

Where did the rumor come from, this board? I really don't think that Saban cared what school in the SEC that he got, as long as it was a big program. It would have been a mistake to go backward and go back to a school that you left.

Why are Arkansas fans so hard on Nutt. He was 75-48. Finished first or tied for first three times. It's not like any other coach has made you any better in the SEC. Sure Field, Holtz, and Broyles did well at Arkansas but you aren't in the SWC anymore. Dude did alright at Arkansas. Won 2 SEC coaches of the year even. I can think of plenty of worse decisions you have made off the top of my head.
Jack Crowe destroyed you after Hatfield left. Then Danny was awful. Nutt brought Arkansas back from the dead. I don't get the anger.

I don't even know where to start. Until you have had that steaming piece of shite on your sideline, you just don't truly understand.

I think Dubose was the worst Alabama coach since Bryant. Price never even coached a game and he's still better then Dubose.

That was also one of many negatives for Nutt. As previously noted, he'd always win a game he shouldn't have, but he'd also lose one he shouldn't have. I think he had a losing record against Vandy and Kentucky at Arkansas.
