Typical BS deflecting
Deflecting what?

From your typical sunshine homer opinion? Not worth actually discussing football.

Don't discount the fact that Bama's front 7 and subsequently the pass rush look like they will be significantly improved.
Of course they will. Lose a 2x All-American, 2 DE starters, & starting SAM and you'll be much improved.

Auburn only throws the ball 7 times a game (from what I've read on here), so I don't know why you included a pass rush.
quote:

The loss of Auburns leading RB, #2 overall NFL draft pick LT, and phenomenal FB hurt the balance of the offense for Auburn which plays perfectly into the hands of Bama's and LSU's D schemes who are usually better up front.
Of course Auburn's three losses on O will make them much worse. Alabama loses 2 AA on defense (and over half the starters) and they'll get much better.

And now that the season is over, Mason went from being just a system RB to an unreplaceable key to Auburn's offense.

You don't see a double standard here? Or can you see at all with those Crimson glasses on?

And let's not forget that you feel the need to leave out that Auburn returns it QB, 4 OL, WRs, TEs, & 2 RBs that had over 600 yards last year. All only going through their second year under the new coach where everyone says you see the biggest jump. But I guess they'll just regress since it's Auburn and not Alabama we're talking about here.

OP's question maybe?

I am trying to discuss man

quote:

Of course they will.

I said the pass rush will be better, only garnered 22 sacks last year

quote:

Lose a 2x All-American

That will hurt I agree

quote:

2 DE starters

Addition by subtraction, don't see much drop-off if any

quote:

starting SAM and you'll be much improved.

See above on SAM and again the pass rush will, new DL coach and a cupboard of ridiculous talent

quote:

Auburn only throws the ball 7 times a game (from what I've read on here), so I don't know why you included a pass rush.

I never said that & as a bystander that watched more than a couple AU games I saw the balance and the way that worked in tune with the pieces AU had both passing and running

quote:

Of course Auburn's three losses on O will make them much worse.

Never said much worse either, it'll hurt the balance though, all I was saying

quote:

And now that the season is over, Mason went from being just a system RB to an unreplaceable key to Auburn's offense.

Again (this is getting tiring) never said that about Tre Mason, in fact I defended Mason quite a bit and hoped Tampa Bay would draft him if he was there in the 3rd because he, in my mind, excelled in more than 1 offensive scheme and is a complete runner. Would you not agree that he was a viable part of the offense?

I see you assuming a bunch of opinions I never said so lets be realistic

Does Auburn have the best chance to win the West
Absolutely
Will they?
No idea
Do they have some starters to replace?
They do as does Bama

Point of this thread was asking why Bama seems like the safe pick, it's because of perception and talent, do I think it's the right pick?
No not at all until everyone can see Coker and if he is serviceable so as of right now the right pick should be Auburn and you alluded to why:

quote:

Auburn returns it QB, 4 OL, WRs, TEs, & 2 RBs that had over 600 yards last year. All only going through their second year under the new coach where everyone says you see the biggest jump.

I also have seen a lot of perceived SEC West powerhouses falter since the SEC is so tipsy turvy

I attempted to bring it back to the realm of discussion and I appreciate your efforts as well hope it works
